Disqus Comments Not Loading? It’s Not Me Bro, It’s Firefox

Over the last 12 months I’ve received a trickle of messages from readers (through the tip form) asking why the Disqus comments section doesn’t load, or comes and goes. Comments are auto-enabled all articles I publish. And if comments are intentionally disabled for an article (which does happen, albeit rarely) you won’t see a comment count (functions as an anchor link to the comments section) in the ‘meta’ area beneath the headline on the article page. So what’s the cause of comments not loading? Mozilla Firefox with Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) mode set to ‘Strict’. The feature —I won’t be :sys_more_orange:

War kurz angesprochen, dass das üblich wäre, als wir unseren #CLCDoOO #WordPress #Hackathon mit @stk hatten. Alte Beiträge würden gerne verwendet, um #Spam zu platzieren. Den Spam filtert mir #AntiSpamBee ganz gut automatisch. Die Kommentare die sonst kamen waren für mich immer ein Grund zum Feiern - #Wertschätzung.
Leider konnte ich meine Kommentare aus #Disqus von #Blogger nicht auf mein neues WP retten. Da ging leider einiges verloren.

Danke - Habe das #Blog testweise zu #WordPress importiert. Domain ist halt nicht "die richtige". Dann werde ich mein Test-System auf korrekte Adressen überprüfen. Wenn ich das dann das Blog incl. Domain an die richtige Stelle ziehe, müsste die URL stimmen. Dann kann ich einen #Disqus-Import versuchen.

Wie kann ich die #Kommentare von #Disqus zu #WordPress übertragen?

Nachdem der Umzug von #KarlskronPolitik zum Jahreswechsel gut funktionierte, möchte ich jetzt gerne auch mit #GadgetGedanken von #Blogger weg zu einer eigenen WordPress-Installation. Die Beiträge übertragen hat geklappt. Auch wenn noch sehr viel manuelle Anpassungen nötig sind.
Dummerweise hatte ich damals auf Disqus für Kommentare gesetzt. Daher nun die Notwendigkeit für einen Transfer.

So, I made a tutorial for #WriteFreely instances so they can use custom JS on their code, and don't need to modify the template / code directly - very useful for multi-user instances.

I added #Disqus there for commenting as WF didn't have that feature, but I do want to add #Isso or #CactusChat if possible later. It will be fun using something that's self hosted and free of tracking..

Also I succeeded in setting up #Disqus comments on each post of #WriteFreely - a bit hacky though. For now i won't set the comment yet for the Game Review, but i can do it anytime soon.

I just realised that my website requires JS 🤫

Mainly because of #Disqus, but I don't think it's ever possible to provide a comment service without using JS. Still, I should switch to #Commento.
