  1. CW: Being a history nerd but only in the evolution of chess

Im bored so like heres the entire history of chess:

It started out as Chaturanga in India in the 6th century, which translates to four divisions of the military. In the 7th century is spread to Persia where the game evolved into shatranj, where then following the Arab conquest of Persia, it became popular in the Islamic community. In the 10th century is spread to Western Europe and became a popular past time among nobles, also another weird evolution happened in the 12th century as kinda like a side game, it also evolved into Courier Chess (it was played on a 12x8 board (12 wide, 8 long, it had a lot of pieces)), although iirc normal Chess (well the normal one of the time) was still played, and Courier Chess eventually died out. In the 15th century it sped up significantly, the queen gained multidirectional movement and could move any amount of squares now, and the bishop also got upgraded to move any amount. And in the 19th century the game largely became what we know today in strategy.

Although Chess was in fact not the only game to come from this evolution, other still played games from this evolution are:
    Xiangqi in China
    Shogi in Japan
    Janggi in Korea
    Makruk in Thailand
    Ouk Chatrang in Cambodia
    Sittuyin in Myanmar
    Shatar in Mongolia
    Senterej in Ethiopia

Im working on learning most of these and so far know ofc normal Chess but also Xiangqi and Shogi (Shogi is my favourite).
