  1. So, in #gardening if cheap/free = more labor and less labor = more patience, then a lower labor cheap/free garden requires lots of time and patience.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the way people often want instant results, whether it’s concerning a health problem, #gardening or anything else. It seems like a valuable shift to embrace slow, steady, lasting remediation.

  2. In the #garden less labor = more patience.

  4. #Beginner #Weaving mistake: I was excited to weave my single handspun cotton yarn but the only finished yarn I have is 2-ply so I decided to weave yarn straight from the spindle. Wrong move! The threads were full of twist and made the entire process super hard and annoying. I only got away with it because I’m working at such small scale. The fascinating thing is that the entire band spiraled in the same direction as the twist of each strand of yarn. Live & learn. More in the #alttext

"The cloth has a balanced weave base using green cotton in both warp and weft. At five points across the weft the green is replaced by bands with two strips with stripes in pink, black or yellow cotton. Between these are scattered a large assortment of individual motifs woven in supplementary weft of white, pink, yellow and black cotton."

  6. Starting with commercial multicolored yarn first was such a good idea. It’s easier to see what’s happening while #weaving, it’s helpful to notice the pattern the colors make in the finished band and it’s easy to see where I made mistakes. I also made a band with my homegrown cotton (2-ply) Not as flashy, but it sure is soft. Bands also make great samples before scaling up. Next I want to weave #handspun cotton singles and see what that’s like. #FiberArts #beginner
