Grrr--yet again I'm in an area where 'my' lab sink is a shared sink. In this case, we're sharing it with a communal gel area.
Thus far, we've cleaned agar and acrylamide out of the sink. And some lovely person just poured Coomassie all over our 50mls falcons. (yes we shouldn't be leaving things in the sink but sheesh).

The pay comes in part from my lab budget and in part from the federal work-study program, which is a type of financial aid here in the US. This is a way for me to reach students that might not otherwise have a chance to do research.
If you are a faculty member in the US and are not hiring through the work-study program, I highly encourage it.
