  1. Brandon Sanderson's keynote address at DragonSteele Nexos 2025 convention. His points were around art creation (prose, images, etc), but I think they apply to programming. The process of creation is about more than just the product. The real creation is a change in ourselves. The image/story/program is more like a receipt showing we've gone through the changes needed to produce it.

  2. I really love for most of my work. I use it for programming and to update markdown work journals. Remote folders are great. However, I ran into an annoying default setting today. Default keymaps for the project pane allow you to delete a file with just a `shift-D`. There is a `"skip_prompt":false"` argument set so it should prompt before deleting. Either it didn't or I accidentally dismissed it. Lost 6 hours of work. Deleted those keymaps.

  3. Happy to finally have a workaround for the random crashes I've been having since upgrading to 7.2 & 7.3.
    hw.perfpolicy=manual
    hw.setperf=99
    in sysctl.conf was enough to keep the kernel from forcing the CPU into "turbo" mode and it has been rock solid for a week now. Crashing 2-5 times per day before hand.
    Just happened across this little tidbit:

    Of course, the fact that my hardware is ancient probably contributed to the problem.

  4. Spending way too much time re-living memories of old operating systems. Kinda wish I'd kept my old machine.
