  1. Is still a thing? Asking for a friend.

The Lapwing are doing pretty well, some chicks are getting quite large.

There are starling nesting in the byre wall top and one thought it would be OK to pop out and dig for worms right here by the kitchen window, next to chickie there.

Mum thought different and went straight for it.

  2. @mhoye @andrewnez as all excellent satire, just slightly too close to the bone. 🤣
"The #incident-response Slack channel briefly pivots to a 45-message thread about whether “compromised” should be spelled with a ‘z’ in American English"... along with the Cambridge vs Oxford English factions pivoting to a separate argument whether compromise is actually derived from Greek.

  3. The snow has gone but there's a bitter wind and I've not been walling this year because of the weather. Went to the last piece I was working on for Neville to remind me of what needs done.

I don't remember this gap, it's 8m long so I would have noticed it. It's just fallen with the frost and snow. That's what Neville probably meant when he said I could have as much work as I want, when I spoke to him last.

I've also just spoken to Craig who was out collecting sheep to scan tomorrow.

  4. Today's public windows #bsod information screen...

  5. Love this structure over platform 10 at Clapham. Pity it's never maintained or painted. I assume its just going to decay then get ripped out. #railway #clapham

  6. Grr. ok with openocd I can probe the NAND over jtag, and see the info....

    > nand probe 0
NAND flash device 'NAND 256MiB 3.3V 8-bit (Hynix)' found

    > nand info 0 0 1
    #0: NAND 256MiB 3.3V 8-bit (Hynix) pagesize: 2048, buswidth: 8, erasesize: 131072
#0: 0x00000000 (128kB) erase state unknown (block condition unknown)
#1: 0x00020000 (128kB) erase state unknown (block condition unknown)

    but I can't read/dump. ☹️
    > nand dump 0 test.dump 0x20000 0x800
    reading NAND flash page failed

Not sure what could be wrong/need changing. 😡 This is driving me mad, although I'm not an openocd expert to know why the info would work but read not.

  7. Was out in the dark bringing the cats in from the catio and it is a very dark sky here, with a very clear sky. A bat flew around, hunting.

The lights in the sky don't all stay still now. In the space of 2 or 3 minutes 3 satellites criss crossed the sky, even with the naked eye.

  8. I'm sitting waiting in a car park in Barnard Castle and I chose a spot that was away from everybody else and it's not busy.

There are 14 empty spaces in front of me and about same to left.

Can someone please explain the psychology of the driver that just parked next to me and had difficulty opening his door without hitting my door?

  9. Our nearest neighbour is watching YouTube. How do I know this without spying on him? He's projecting it onto the outside wall of his 2 storey farmhouse, can't miss it.

Eve says everybody out here in Harwood is a bit quirky. Except us, of course. Right?

  10. A little montage of Monday morning in the N Pennines. It's stopped snowing but the wind has got up even more and fine snow is drifting in off the fields. Max depth is about 200mm, half the depth expected.

I think the roads are passable but not going out today. I believe the A66 is still closed from Brough over the highest stretch.

Dug a path to the byre and that's far enough. I don't think it will melt quickly as temps expected to drop a lot over next few days.
