  1. Our nearest neighbour is watching YouTube. How do I know this without spying on him? He's projecting it onto the outside wall of his 2 storey farmhouse, can't miss it.

    Eve says everybody out here in Harwood is a bit quirky. Except us, of course. Right?

  6. Does anybody know any #outlets or #editors interested in how merchants of #doubt sow derail public conversation on #scientific topics?

    Talking more broadly about communication tactics from #antivaxxers to 9/11 #truthers, from #climate #contrarians to AIDS #deniers, every parallel universe comes with its little niche #rituals, #idiosyncratic #fallacies, and historical #trajectory. What they share is their #sabotage of public scientific #discourse.

    Feel free to suggest somebody or DM me 😅

  11. We are kind of used to this, but still it is somhow illogical: A Range object, which represents *empty*, can still have an effect when used as a string index:

    range = 0..-3
    range.to_a.empty? #=> true
    "Ruby"[range] #=> "Ru"

    It feels less "wrong" when using Ruby's more recent beginless ranges:

    "Ruby"[..-3] #=> "Ru"

  16. @cc_chapman I wish I could explain it... it's like being able to walk an indoor track while I look around and shop. I've been known to hit up grocery stores when I travel internationally, just to look around. #idiosyncratic
