i have had cataract for about 3-4 years now, age 52. last year summer it was finally bad enough for #specsavers to refer me for surgery. in january i got an appointment letter for an appointment at a private eye clinic (paid for by my NI contributions, i.e. the #NHS). in may i finally had my op, but when i lied down, and had to lie absolutely still whilst looking straight into the sun with my light sensitive eyes,.. -

Went to make an online appointment with #SpecSavers today. They wanted my date of birth. So they could "find my records".
Why? My name + address is unique. My email address is unique. My DOB isn't. And is very PII! Only the tax office, my actual doctors and employer need to know that!
1/1/1900 it was, so. #GDPR

And that's another trip to the Specsavers in Andover done, until I go pick up the new glasses in ~2 weeks.
Once more the staff were lovely, professional and both offered good information and answered any questions I had.
My bank account is wincing, as I've refreshed all *three* pairs; "intermediate vision" for computer work (most of my day), normal varifocals, and another varifocal pair with a polaroid tint for if it's sunny.

There are 14 empty spaces in front of me and about same to left.
Can someone please explain the psychology of the driver that just parked next to me and had difficulty opening his door without hitting my door?

I've had my new #glasses for less than three hours, and just noticed that they've got a broken frame 😩 The right lens isn't in the frame properly either, so no wonder they felt "off" for closeup stuff. Back to #specsavers tomorrow morning, I guess 😐

Just been to #Specsavers (of all places) to have micro-suction on my ears, because I had wax buildup for the last week on one side in particular. Appointment lasted less than 20 minutes and cost £55. Very professional guy who did the cleaning. Feel much better now for sure.

If #anpost could advise their nice postpeople that #specsavers "lenses by mail" boxes are specifically made to go through the letterbox so they don't have to ring the doorbell every time, that would be dead handy, ta.

Calling #glass wearers that use #cleaning #sprays
What brand do you use?
I really like the one from #Spex4Less as it has a good aroma.
The only other experience I have is one from #SpecSavers (okay, but not as good an aroma).
Both of these work as well as each other. And they work much better than just water, and more convenient than washing at a sink.
