  10. I came across a user mentioning the .irish TLD is owned by American capitalists, but that’s only the tip of this iceberg. Since I went down this road of “who is my TLD operator” already, here’s a brief introduction to the Identity Digital / Donuts empire.

Using a country, region or populace is a valid objection to ICANN. The outdoor brand Patagonia wanted .patagonia, but Argentina filed an objection and the brand withdrew their application.

I don’t see a single objection to .irish in the 2014 public comments, which is unfortunate. But a lot of sketchy and questionable things snuck through back then—.zip anyone?

A corporation shouldn’t own a nationality or diaspora TLD.

Where was the ICANN’s GAC (Governmental Advisory Committee)? Well..

Identity Digital, who now operates .irish, is a mess of companies, ironically originally founded in Ireland in 1999, now “operating” in Bellevue, WA, US. It was acquired by Afilias (who then owned irish) and later Donuts. All backed by American PE, Ethos Capital. If that PE firm sounds familiar, they tried to gain private control of .org for $1B in 2021.

And the CEO of this PE firm? Here’s a screenshot of his own LinkedIn, where he was previously ICANN’s President.

Your TLD owner and operator matter. The political control and financial damage a misaligned corporation can inflict is worrisome. My best recommendation is to pursue well governed and protected ccTLDs. Or a non-profit with an aligned mission statement, like .meow.

  13. I'm not pro-harassing people to do alt-text. I get it. Life is draining and effort is at a premium. Sometimes you just wanna make a shitpost.

That being said, I thoroughly enjoy alt-text. Sometimes I just want to know what is going on in a photo and I can see just fine. It also makes me 100x more likely that I will boost a photo/video.

It can be hard enough to tell what is going on in a photo when you can see it, let alone for our fedifrens who can't.

Don't be intimidated what I will call "altmaxxers" who somehow can write, like, a whole freaking beautifully written essay for a photo of a banana. Thats really cool but I cant consistently do that. A sentence or a few words is still better than nothing.

Please stop vaping on planes friends. Its not worth it. Buy some nicotine gum or a patch, you can do it.

  16. So two things about the incident and as a disclaimer these two things are unconfirmed by official sources afaik.

    1. The engines were likely shut down by the copilot attacker. This is based off of what seems to be power loss in the cabin (in flight entertainment turning off, emergency exit lights turning on). This is major question that I frankly was confused why the attacker didn't do it. Turns out he likely did. youtube.com/watch?v=EBc2gNkPVi
    2. The plumber who said he pulled the plane out of the dive probably didn't do the majority of the pulling out, the plane likely did. A dive requires consistent force on the control column. A yanking of the control column back likely would have tore the wings off at that speed but the plane is actually aerodynamically stable so after the copilot was removed the plane naturally levels out. 18. Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1080 , Monday 12/10/2026

Monday turned out to be a cold damp day, classic British autumn weather to be honest!

Gym was a bit of a MH disaster with my schedule being utterly wrecked by folks walking mini marathons & a lass who thought that holding onto the handle of the weights frame while she was telling her mates how badly done by she was a work was the equivalent of actual exercise! I toyed with the idea of suggesting that she be more considerate of other gym members but I played the conversation thru in my mind - I tend not to back down, especially if in the right, & also tend not to know when to stop - this leads to all kinds of negative outcomes & so I kept quiet!

The rest of the day was essentially calming down from this morning.

    Final Thoughts.

I am actually quite pleased that I still did all the exercises in my normal routine, because I toyed with just giving up at least 3 times as each attempt at getting back on track was stymied.

Less pleased that it took much of the rest of the day to get my equilibrium back!

Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you! 🫂 🫶🐿️🖖
