Drop Something? Don't Worry, Someone Caught It
Not every expired domain disappears. In our data, we observe roughly 50,000 dropcatch domains every day across gTLDs alone, accounting for nearly 20% of daily gTLD registrations.
How common is dropcatching? Which TLDs see the most activity? Which registrars show up most often? And why is it so difficult to tell what ultimately happens to these domains?

According to the author, the fall of San'a in 2015 also put the registrar #YemenNet into the hands of the Houthis.

When this becomes a thing, I might switch domains for my website! Hopefully they support punycode so I can put emojis in the URL, but even if not, I might still switch. It will always be better to spend money for a non-profit that will help fund furry and LGBT related stuff rather than just paying some random country haha

For those of us who operate in the .au domain space (com.au, org.au, id.au, or au direct), such as @geton), there are some changes proposed in the au Domain Licensing Review that will actually make life better. Shocking, I know.
The "Investor Class" — those who only see internet domains as another way to make money — probably won't be terribly happy. Sad.

It's been a while since I've found a need to do this, and I assume tools have changed a bit, so some #FediHelp would be appreciated...
What is the most accurate way to find existing #DomainNames , or more specifically, #SubDomains , where I already know the #TLD ?
#VirusTotal allows me to drill down from the main serving IP address to get to the #ASN - then reference the "Relations" tab for passive #DNS replication -BUT- I suspect the list may only be partially complete and/or 'outdated'.

In September 2025, the auDA Board appointed an external Policy Advisory Panel to undertake a review of the .au Licensing Rules (the Rules). Following an initial public consultation phase (September 2025 to March 2026), the Panel has now released its Draft Report setting out recommendations for proposed changes to the Rules.
We invite .au members and stakeholders to provide their feedback on the Draft Report as part of this next phase of consultation.

I remember when I had to do such configs, it was hard and there was no proper solution available. Back then I ended up using
.local, which just causes long extra delays and timeouts and it is wrong. -
Oh, goody. #ICANN has announced it's opening up applications for new generic top-level domains.
All the ones added since they first started doing this - i.e. when the only generic TLDs were .com, .net, and .org - are, as far as I can see, garbage and useless.
Every single email I have ever received from a domain under .biz, .online, .shop, and all the other "new" GTLDs has been either spam, scam, or phishing.
I should just block all these TLDs completely, and any other new ones this results in.

We EMPHASIZED why this is a last resort measure and offered examples of TLDs that were persistently associated with major phishing and scam attacks in CY2025. We also describe how to make an informed TLD blocking decision.
In our earlier post, we explained how organizations or individuals could use Cisco’s OpenDNS service to adopt TLD blocking. Today, we’ll be taking a look at how NextDNS could be used to block TLDs.

🏤 I'm going to stay in Mountain Town a few more days and then I'll head back to Mystery Lake before moving to another region. -

🥩 I spent a whole week in the cave near the radio tower in Mountain Town, just crafting stuff and eating moose meat.
🏦 That was pretty boring. I'm back in town looking for interesting stuff to do.

🫎 On the way out I spotted the moose. Only carrying my bow and two arrows, killing it seemed an impossible task.
My plan was: "annoy the moose and run back to the office like a chicken when it charges".
👐 The first shot hit its neck, I ran back to the office door as planned. The moose followed me up to few metres away from the building. I shot my last arrow to its head and eventually took it down.
❓ Now the questions is: cloak or satchel??? -
