@bookwar You are right about gating, but
> no one needs a build system
is wrong. That is like "no one needs hospitals, just early diagnosis". That is not true. You need a build system to guarantee a secure environment and big and cheap throughput. #Packit would do half of the things without a build system. -
@bookwar #ublockorigin #ghostery #consent-o-matic and #sponsorblock exist!
But I see your point.

I'm thinking of writing an article about a concerning new trend: language learning books generated by Ai, without any knowledge of the teaching material, that are currently flooding #Amazon and will end up on the #secondhand #bookmarket #bookstodon #books #language #languagelearning #selfteaching #learningsupport #AI #artificialintelligence #dangers_of_ai #bookwarning #readingcommunity #languagelearners #teachingbook #learning #blog

And repeating the last year post here:
---"But I am not running myself, what can I do?"
1) Think about who can represent your voice in #Fedora
2) *Tell them* that you think that they might be good at representing your voice in Fedora.
This is a critically important step, because often people who are good for these roles are not aware that they are good at them.
3) Learn about people nominated for elections. Talk to them, ask their opinion on various topics.
4) Vote.

A timely reminder
You have until 23:59 UTC, 21 May 2026 to nominate yourself or someone you think would be a good fit for a governance role in Fedora

Apparently, #Discourse has just landed the nested replies support
https://github.com/discourse/discourse/pull/38888
It can be previewed on meta.discourse.org if you replace `/t/` with `/n/` in the thread url.
I think the default theme is too white and makes the thread structure hard to recognize.
But I am looking forward to the future adjustments.

Wait, wait, wait, am I seeing things?

Introducing #bootc support in the Anaconda installer - new article by our team on Fedora Magazine.
This is the early preview of the feature, which has been recently merged to the Fedora Rawhide.
Feedback is welcome

If anyone is interested in contributing to FOSS projects (as everyone here as a lot of free time, right?)
it would be really cool to adjust this change https://review.opendev.org/c/zuul/zuul/+/859939 to support #Forgejo and to land it in #ZuulCI

Fedora is ~20000 packages. #Packit (the tool to autopackage directly from upstream) covers (I don't really know) let's say a 1000. Fedora gating (gating via a working rpm buiild) covers let's say 500.
This means everything else still uses direct push to dist-git as a main packaging step without verification. Until we change it, that's our pipeline.
-
I haven't said anything about what should be in the gate.
If your project and your upstream ABC-gate is good enough, you can make BC gate to be empty or fully automated and merge on success of the autogenerated spec-file without a human review.
This is literally what #Packit does.
But you can not argue with the fact that the there is a transformation of the artifact there. And when there is a transformation - there is a gate.
Whether to use this gate or to bypass it - is a choice.

If you are in need of a slightly creepy but at the same time cozy and not very demanding game, which will let you switch off from the reality for next couple of days and just go fishing(literally), I can recommend
https://www.gog.com/en/game/dredge_complete_edition
As usual: runs on Thinkpad X1 Carbon, on Fedora 41, installed via Lutris, no DRM, no issues.

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/BAM-3175
I am watching this ticket since 2013. Every couple of years I get a notification about some poor soul asking the same question again. And it triggers nostalgic feelings about the world long gone.
If you ever wondered, if Bamboo by #Atlassian is worth anything as a build or ci system, it is not.
That was my first job as a Build Engineer and the best thing I did was that I deployed #Buildbot server and moved our test automation to it.
