I put waaay too much effort into this 3D model
-
Little sad that solvespace doesn't have variables / parameters, but I guess this is a functional workaround.
Just drew some lines, and add an equal constraint when I want some part of my drawing to have that length
-
I made a mistake in the freecad version of this model I made a few days ago. And instead of going back into freecad to try and figure out how to fix it, I instead remade it in solvespace. And it was so much easier to make it look a lot better.
-
Ok, apart from the annoying... feature?... I mentioned in my previous post. I quite like solvespace, I think this can be my 3D CAD tool of choice for creating my KiCad 3D models.
It has some annoyances which I might honestly consider trying to patch the source code for at some point in the future. But other than that, it is not a pain to use, it can export STEP files, and its open source, which are the most important things I need.
-
Uhhh, does solvespace really not have a way to flip text? Everything online says this is intentional because this means text always remains "readable". But I need text on the back of my object, therefore it is always not readable.....
I saw someone online suggest rotating the sketch around the Z axis, but after that I cannot difference extrude it anymore..... Is there a workaround? Can I extrude rotate and then boolean or something?

Ig I'll make a #JMusicFriday post, since I got a good submission for the theme of; #TheStrangeClip. From the band that got me into japanese music in the first place:
- Jikkyouchuukei, radwimps:
(CW, abstract drawings of nudity and weird bodily horrors)

Welp I am way late, but I'll post anyways for this weeks #JMusicFriday with theme: #thegroups
I'll choose toryanse, by atarashii gakkou, who I saw live some months ago:

Finally bought world of goo 2, its is hitting all the nostalgia. Also yes, it really does have more goo
-
Our micromouse is able to drive around without hitting walls now, just in time for the competition.
-
Just need to solder on the buttons, the buzzer, and the other 4 proximity sensors and the #micromouse electronics are done.
Managed to test the IR proximity sensing circuitry, the motor drivers, the shift register, the microcontroller and the LED's. Only mistakes found so far are some flipped transistor footprints. Also needed to make some adjustments to the IR input filter, but I was prepared for that.
The next 3 weeks are exams though, so the rest will have to wait.
-
Got the #micromouse pcbs in, we got it with all the jlcpcb basic parts assembled. Now I just need to assemble and test the rest this weekend.
-
Got rid of all the DRC and ERC errors and warnings. Did some sanity checks. Going to sleep and do some more sanity checks before actually ordering.
-
Anybody here know of a way to get the latest volume or the japanese weekly shonen jump digitally while not in japan? I really want to read the new #ruridragon in japanese before I do so in english.
-
-
Managed to get things a lot smaller, and now things seem to fit better. Can't say I am looking forward to handsoldering 7 of these though.
-
Well, that is the first PCB design done for our #micromouse project. 7 of these are going to be on the mouse, mounted at a 90 degree angle to look at the maze walls. Lets hope they actually work.

Some day I want to make taiyaki at home, but you need some form of fish shaped waffle iron for that. That isn't going to fit in the kitchen, but as someone living in a dutch household we need a panini press/tosti ijzer anyways, so I am looking for a combo of those two. Surely that has to exist right?
I found this donut taiyaki combo which is close (see picture), but that isn't quite it. So I thought maybe someone on fedi knows where to shop, or a good search term.

Finally calling this #blender project on which I have been working for more than a year finished (was working on it for a while actively, then dropped it for a very long time, until finishing it recently).
It is an attempt at recreating the artwork from this music video from #ナナヲアカリ:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKoioiDpwrkAlso, apparently it just so happens to be ナナヲアカリ (nanawoakari)'s birthday today.
お誕生日おめでとう!!

I am trying to get #qucs to work for me, to replace ltspice, but I can't seem to figure out if it even has any keyboard shortcuts? I seem to be able to find some github issues relating to wanting to implement them, from like 2014, but not much else. Are there keyboard shortcuts??? can I add keyboard shortcuts??? Anyone here happen to know?
If not, then that is kind of a deal breaker.....

I just managed to get my #tinyusb setup, (which speaks, HID keyboard, and CDC), to a point where it is usb spec compliant enough to work with in the bios and on windows (it already worked under linux).
It took me a few full days, and a lot of headaches. I now also know a lot more about #usb, and I am not sure if the things I have learnt make me happy.
It really helped that I had already gone through the process once before, just that, I only managed to get it to work on Linux that time.

Before I forget, todays #JMusicFriday #AnimeEndings.
For my first choice, "time left", by zuttomayo, one of the chainsaw man endings.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OC92oxs4gASecond choice (and only my second choice, because I had already chosen it for a different jmusicfriday): Mephisto, by queen bee, the oshi no ko ending.

So, it turns out, if you want to buy something from #lcsc. Instead of paying $7.70 for shipping, you can go to #jlcpcb, get some small pcb's produced for $2, then select "global standard direct line", for $1.47, and including taxes and shipping, you will have paid $4.20 for your pcbs.
If you then order parts from lcsc, you get free shipping because of your jlcpcb order. This way you save $3.50 in shipping, and you get free pcbs.

Little late for #jmusicfriday, but I'm sure it is still friday somewhere. Todays theme: #CertifiedBanger
Took me a bit to decide what songs to choose, not sure what would qualify as a certified banager, but here is my attempt:
Kenshi Yonezu - KICKBACK
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2cckDmNLMIRADWIMPS, natsu no sei
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Owqn2QrtOBUrica matsumoto, Mezase Pokémon Master, the first take:

So I bought a bunch of these playstation 2 connectors, gambling that the pins would extend far enough to reach the pcb, turns out they don't. Anyone have any smart ideas as to how to connect this thing to a pcb, while it is glued to the surface.

#adofai on a #taikonotatsujin drum is surprisingly playable. I don't think it is good for my wrists though. Also, the drum kept moving towards me because I was only hitting the rim, because that part is more sensitive, so it is easier to keep up with the speed of the game.
