So I think the NTP clocks are going well, my main issue is #JLCPCB @jlcpcb being a lot less slick than they used to be.
Chasing me for two days asking if a battery contact needs solder paste (when gerbers I uploaded say no, and I answered both times).
A day chasing polarity of a buzzer, which data sheet says has no polarity.
Very frustrating.
I hope for new boards soon.

I got a huge shipment from #JLCPCB today. It's funny how cyclic this #electronics hobby is for me. I spend about 1-3 months designing boards, and put in a huge order because it's cheaper that way. Then I'll think of 3 or 4 more things to add before my order leaves the factory. Then when the order ships, I have no idea what to do with myself for about a week. Then it arrives, and I get to work assembling boards. Inevitably half of the assembled boards will have a bug, so I'll correct them and add a new board to the shopping cart for the next order. And then the cycle repeats! Follow me and I'll post updates of finished boards along the way. I am now armed with a complete smt assembly line in my office so this pile of boards will go really quick. In the pile of boards, I have another revision of several of my clocks, christmas ornaments, a new revision of Reference Circuits Volume 4: #digital_logic , one piece of #PCB_Art a USB-C- PD trigger test board, a new binary clock, and a few others. The big silver things are framed solder paste Sstencils. I'm excited for the three day weekend!

I just had to reach out to #jlcpcb as my shipment seems stuck. And I was surprised: I opened the chat, told the AI my shipment is stuck and literally 5 seconds later "A customer agent joined the chat". That's freaking awesome! And it felt like the agent was typing at 200 words/minute, as quickly as they responded, also without a translator (due to spelling mistakes, which I domn't mind). Let's see if they keep the promise on following up via mail

A couple of weeks ago I placed an order with JLCPCB for some PCBs - my first real such project of any significance. I ordered 5 boards, fully assembled which in hindsight was a mistake because it cost me a fortune in both tariffs and shipping.
The good news is today they finally arrived and look amazing. The bad news is they don't work. 🙃
I knew I was taking a gamble, but it's still disappointing.

So, I'm going to try getting a fully populated PCB built at #JLCPCB for the first time.
I mean, I know that knock-off vendors are going to be cheaper than American brands, but is it normal to have multiple knock-offs available with prices ranging by more than 10x?
Are these made with slave labor? Are the materials stolen? Are they even real? The datasheet specs are not the same, but I'm not actually sure what the design requirement is, or what the relevant parameters are on the datasheet here.

Looks like FedEx dobbed me into JLCPCB for not paying 11p of duty (or the disproportionate £10.50 disbursement fee) 🤣 .

Second attempt at the external 4mb expansion for the #SamCoupe and it works perfectly. Decided to give #JLCPCB a try just because I couldn't bear waiting another month for #PCBWay to deliver to find out if the new design worked, and they weren't too far away on pricing. Placed the order on 26th April, it arrived today. That's not bad going at all.

Dunno what is happening in Leipzig but it seem like a black hole for #JLCPCB Europacket shipments..
