@Slash909uk @phlash Oh! I had forgotten I had these online. These are from when we built Genie Internet for Cellnet - Originally on the Telex floor (where Wireplay was), and then we had to move it up to the 5th or 6th onto my office floor, where the corporate networks hung out. This was the install record, sadly taken on a 1999 digital camera, sorry! I had a skim, there's nothing in there that would be considered classified these days.
The Celnet Genie service, which we designed as an "ISP in a box", was pretty amazing, really, especially for an essentially free ISP.
Also, it's one of those odd jobs where you end up as both lead applications architect, systems manager, server builder, removal dude, and underfloor cable rat and crimper in the same project. I feel jobs like that in big corporations tend not to exist any more.

Canadians can already get the news. The fact that only the big U.S. tech companies have effective news #aggregation that attracts Canadian #eyeballs is an extremely strong indicator that Canadian news orgs have failed in this respect.
Hence, an indictment of Canadian news orgs, not U.S. tech companies.
Why the hell haven't the Canadian orgs I listed #cooperated to launch a Canadian #news aggregation site? It wouldn't even be expensive.

Balkan lorry drivers blockade EU borders over visa curbs.
Lorry drivers from four Western Balkan countries blockaded more than 20 border crossings with the EU on Monday in protests against strict enforcement of Schengen travel limits they say threaten their livelihoods.
The blockade causes €100 million daily export losses, according to officials.

Scania are testing a lorry which is covered in solar panels. The panels should generate enough power to propel it 5,000 km in Sweden, but maybe as many as 10,000 km in Spain. And that number could increase as more efficient panels are used.

@tompearce49 Chapeau!There are some great hgv drivers out there. I think the #log #lorry drivers are the best - they get a lot of flack, but the best of them can do as you describe, but in the forest, on narrow, steep, tight geometry, very few passing places, unmade up roads, often riddled with potholes. No roadsigns and often only poor mapping. Tramping (overnighting in the cab) is often required. It's amazing our #timber gets to the mills sometimes!
