New Read - Somali and the Forest Spirit, Volume 4

Another amazing volume. This one finishes up their encounter with Uzoi and Haitora. It's an incredible moment as Haitora reveals his own past, what he went through, and how he found Uzoi. And a tale of forgiveness.

As they continue on their quest, we run into Shizuno and Yabashira again, who appear to have figured out what Somali is. Not to harm her, but Shizuno wants to understand why the Golem is willing to go to such lengths for her.

It's a great volme and...ugh, I need volume 5 to drop physically already.

New Read - Somali and the Forest Spirit, Volume 3

Fantastic volume, once again.

We continue in the small town where the Golem is working to collect money for their trip. Somali gets sick and they had to get medicine for her...spending most of what Golem had earned to avoid revealing her identity as human.

It's a moment. Also, this moment with Kokilila is amazing. No parent is perfect. Sometimes I know I need to hear that.

The second half shifts gears as they travel and meet some new folks...including someone else hiding their identity.

Great story.

New Read - Somali and the Forest Spirit, Volume 2

Love this. Remembering the anime, this volume largely goes into the story of Somali and the Golem with the witches, as they speak about the tale of the golem Haraiso.

It's a lot and it's so well done. Also, very cute.

The duo arrive at a new village needing money which leads to Somali making her first friend. But I know this isn't going to go well...someone is lurking already.

Great read. Very sweet seeing an emotionless golem starting to feel the emotions of a parent.

New Read - Somali and the Forest Spirit, Volume 1

I remember watching this anime when it first aired and loved it. It told the story of an emotionless, genderless forest spirit / golem traveling with a human child who is pretending to be a minotaur. The world is full of monsters who hate humans. The golem is trying to help find this child, named Somali, be returned to her family.

It's sweet as this seemingly emotionless being begins to...feel as they serve as a parent to the human child they are smuggling.

The first volume did not disappoint. Looking forward to Volume 2.
