failures—particularly affecting children with disabilities—Tennessee appears to be expanding
state-operated placement capacity rather than structurally realigning its system toward
integrated, family-based alternatives." -
"A special immigrant juvenile, Osório represents a status that has come into the crosshairs of the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign as authorities struggle to meet a reported national quota of 3,000 arrests daily. Several policies and decisions by the Board of Immigration Appeals have put these children’s access to legal permanent residency at greater risk." Stop attacking children. #childrensrights #youthlaw

Happy new year #lawfedi . Here is the complaint from a recent lawsuit by NHeLP and others alleging #Georgia has failed to provide appropriate community based supports for children, forcing them into institutions and failing to meet legal requirements under Medicaid/EPSDT. https://healthlaw.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Complaint-with-Case-No-N.D.-Ga.-1.3.2024_reduced.pdf

New study on wealth inequality and impact on SAT scores (and really, all things).
"What we saw was the accumulation of unequal opportunities over 18 years of a child’s life that culminates in these differences in scores on college preparation exams. I think that’s what is new — seeing it all kind of put together and seeing the magnitude of the disparities. It’s pretty sobering."

Very thankful for the opportunity to discuss YExLS, Richard Rorty, and what it means to create children's rights and policy change through playing games at the Playful by Design conference at the University of Illinois. I learned so much from the other speakers and all of the fantastic work they are doing there. #ChildrensRights #law #YouthLaw
