I had high hopes for easy trains to #Bremen from #Groningen in December of 2025. Unfortunately, this line won't be ready for use until spring of 2026 at the earliest.

oh ffs. Renewed service of the train #Groningen - #Leer / #Bremen is delayed by another half year.
Estimated to be in operation in summer 2026 now. So with some required training for staff it's not unlikely operation will only start in December 2026, a full 11 years after a ship took out the Friesenbrücke.

Die DB InfraGO bekommt die #Wunderline nicht bis Dezember 2025 in Betrieb, so hapert es u.A. daran das 1955 gebaute elektromechanische Stellwerk Papenburg ans ESTW in Ihrhove anzuschließen. Wieso man da nicht gleich ein ESTW in Papenburg gebaut hat ... weiß nur der Bahngott. My train from Stuttgart was late by ten minutes, so I missed my connection at Münster. The next train should have cost me an hour, but it was delayed by a half hour. When it arrived at Leer, I had missed the Groningen bus by just ten minutes. Now I must wait nearly two hours for the next one.

@pmmueller Ach het is nog maar tien jaar, dat er geen treinen rijden naar Leer. 🤮
En als die brug er ooit komt dan nog mogen er maar 20 minuten per uur treinen overheen. En dat noemen ze dan een #wunderline… 🥴

Well look at that! Starting literally at the Dutch-German border (on the German side) there is actually proper work done on the track. They're even replacing a little bridge (not on the level of the Friesenbrücke but it's just as needed).
This might become a little #Wunderline yet.

More bad news for the #Dutch #German #Wunderline (is it now..) #CrossBorderRail #rail connection.
With the rebuild of #Groningen train station no platform space is allocated for regular international trains. Delaying a potential connection even more. A quick look at the plans also shows a later fix isn't easy.
I'm more skeptical by the day I (Jutland, Denmark) will ever get to visit my parents (Friesland, Netherlands) over this route. #shitshow
