#WordWeavers 8/17: "Which scene made you laugh while writing it?"
I'm sure there are plenty, but what pops up for me is a scene from my Wolves.
Someone explains the way to shift between human and wolf is like shifting between OSs, and they call it Humandoze and WolfLix, iirc.
Ahem. Yes. Sometimes, I write silly stuff. But it was a good scene, I promise!

#WordWeavers 20/4: What is your MC’s relationship to obtaining and preparing food?
Liz is quite accustomed to growing and hunting her own food. She's less adept at cooking, however.
You see, she is a wolf shifter and grew up on a farm run by her parents. Hunting is second nature to her.
She can totally subsist on her own in wolf shape, and actually does so for a while, out of necessity. She barely avoids going feral.

#WordWeavers Nov 10: Do your characters eat any unusual food?
Does freshly caught raw meat count as unusual?
The alpha's wife is never impressed when anyone brings back a deer with chunks of flesh missing, so it doesn't happen often. Usually, they eat it cooked, with a knife and fork.

#WordWeavers Oct 9th. Do any of your characters have sensory sensitivities?
Ellis is a wolf shifter and that comes with a few added extras. Namely, a heightened sense of smell and hearing. Not always a bonus when you live in a noisy, stinky city, but it has its moments.

#WordWeavers Sept 1. Introduce MC from the perspective of the antagonist.
He should have died, not lived on, like a thorn in my side, all these years. They still talk about him. Whispering gossip and rumour when they think I can't hear. They know he's rich and successful, but they don't know that I'm already under his skin.
Everything he owns is mine; it always has been. When I get it, I'll grind his bones into dust and burn his memory until all that remains are ashes. -
#PennedPossibilities 84 — Did SC fit in with family they grew up with? Why?
That's a big nope. Not many of my characters "fit in".
Jo's childhood is only vaguely hinted at. She owes Ellis a debt from back then. Her loyalty stems from whatever he did to help her. She never mentions family and if anyone were to ask, shed likely make them suffer for it.
As a shifter who cannot change forms, Lark had a very unpleasant childhood in the pack. Bullying was the least of it. -
#WordWeavers Sept 25: Your antagonist gives a spontaneous speech. What is it about?
Aiden isn't one for giving speeches. He prefers to speak with actions, specifically violence. He knows that fear works to keep the pack compliant, so waxing lyrical isn't in his best interests.
-
#WordWeavers Sept 19. Side character POV: Have you ever been treated unfairly?
(This is Lark. He's only recently popped up in my WIP)
"You're joking aren't you? No, probably not. You haven't been out to the compound, so you have no idea what it's like. Okay, so imagine being the weakest in the pack, not even strong enough to shift. Then, think about how that might go down when the alpha is your father."
*shrugs*
"Don't pull that face. It is what it is."

#WordWeavers 16: How is your antagonist viewed?
In wider society, shifters are viewed with anything from friendly acceptance, to suspicion and fear.
Some packs, like Aiden's, stay separate and this heightens the 'otherness' that a lot of humans struggle to see past.
Wealth and a willingness to integrate have allowed some shifters to find equity. They are both things that Aiden doesn't possess.
Within his pack, he is respected because he is feared. His word is law. -
#WordWeavers Day 7. Why did your villain become a villain?
Aiden became pack alpha the old way, fighting his way to the top with guile, cunning and a ruthless single-mindedness. Each step up gave him another level of control. Now he's alpha, he'll do what it takes to stay top wolf.
Others will always jostle for a slice of his pie. The only way to keep power is to ensure the pack thrives - and that everyone fears him more than his younger, would be challengers. -
#WordWeavers Day 4: Does your antagonist have a chance to become a better person?
Of course. But he chooses greed and self interest. There is also a fear of being seen as weak in the eyes of the pack to motivate him. When you take something, using your superior strength and cunning, it's hard to let that go, especially when you know others are eying your position and wondering if you're as good as you used to be.

#PennedPossibilities 59 — What is the best piece of advice that your MC has ever been given?
"Start walking. Don't ever come back or you'll regret it."
There are many things Ellis regrets about that time, but going back, when he finally did, will never be one of them.
-
#WordWeavers Day 1: Introduce the antagonist with as much sympathy as possible.
Tough one. I'm still developing him and so far he hasn't cast himself in the best light.
Aiden is the alpha of Ellis's childhood pack. He's not a kind or pleasant person, but he grew up tough and fought his way to the top. Softness wouldn't have gotten him there.
Umm... He has two kids. Keri, his daughter, is possibly sociopathic. His youngest son, Lark, seems quite nice. -
#WritingWonders Day 31: Has your MC or antagonist ever approved of something the other's done?
Ellis was expected to die, or scratch a life out on the fringes of society. He was never going to do more than survive. There was no chance of him becoming a meal ticket for his old pack. So when he did... Well, his old alpha approves, because now Ellis has something the pack needs. Cold hard cash.
-
#PennedPossibilities 46 — What is the priority for your MC right now?
Ellis will do whatever it takes to ensure Jack and Marcus don't get caught up in whatever bullshit his old pack is trying to pull. He doesn't care if they come for him. But *no one* gets to hurt his... Lovers? Family? Mates?
-
#WritingWonders Day 14: What parts of your world would you recommend a tourist visit? Why?
Marcus would recommend visiting a club 😛 He knows a good one in the city. Depends what you're into though, and you will be stopped at the door if you don't meet the dress code.
If you like the great outdoors, there is extensive forest to be found if you venture out of Stratton. You might want to stick to the designated pathways, or you may bump into a wolf or two. -
#WritingWonders Day 1: Your MC shows up on your doorstep, what do you say/do?
If my real and fictional worlds collide and Ellis is the one to knock my door, it would take a while for my brain to come back online. I mean... Alert! Alert! Apex Alpha shifter in my house.
Then, I would hastily remind him that I gifted him two lovers. TWO
If he still has a problem with his own or Jack's back story, then I may be forced to get out my laptop and start redrafting. -
#WritingWonders Day 23: Would your MC stand out in this world?
Out of the three, Marcus would have both the easiest and hardest time staying under the radar. He's a rich, successful businessman with a shady past that would probably set him in good stead in our society.
There is the whole wolf thing though, and the uh, half man- half wolf form.
He would be intimidating as hell if you crossed him, but he has superb control and charm. He'd be fine. -
#WritingWonders Day 20: Do you have LGBT+ characters in your story?
Very much so.
Wolf shifters are often pan/bisexual. This is often ignored by the elders but the idea is still for them to find a compatible mate to settle down with and have cubs. Especially those from higher ranking packs. Some of the current generation are pushing back on that. With my stories being set around a queer kink community, my MCs are all LGBTQ+ in some way, human and otherwise.
-
#WritingWonders Day 19: What things in my story would I like to exist in this world?
Without doubt it would be wolfshifters - The ability to turn into an actual wolf. To run as a pack. To sense your wolf inside you and have heightened senses even while in human form. To have a pack you belong to, who will defend you to the end of the world.
The shifters don't appear much in #Denial as both MCs are human, but set it's the same world as #ScratchTheSurface

@Firlefanz
This was my answer too, just haven't written it yet. 🤣
#WolfShifters existing in the world - I would very much like to be part of that. 🐺
