Started tinkering with the #WeeCee and just learned about https://easy2boot.xyz/
Wow, what a weird-looking yet incredibly powerful utility!

Heyheyhey! One of the #weeCee's that I made is now back up for sale: https://www.ebay.com/itm/404758970702 -- It's one of the earlier models, but tell your friends!

Things like the MISTer, for instance, are great, but unfortunately their x86 emulation leaves some things to be desired. No shade to MISTer or FPGA for that matter - they are amazing devices, and will continue to evolve, but being on the actual hardware means compatibility is spot on. The #weeCee provides that spot-on behavior, without #emulation of any kind.

That's not to say that there aren't any great games today - there are. It is just that there is always a place in our hearts for the old games we used to play, and what the #weeCee allows is the chance to explore that era yet again, but with new hardware. Modern hardware. Stuff made to last. Stuff to preserve memories that we may never get back. The #weeCee opens the door to an era that deserves its recognition.

In terms of the #weeCee, this is the era when games were games, and they weren't afraid of taking risks. When you bought a game, you got a full game, not some half done freemium shovelware full of bugs that takes another 2 years of content updates to come close to the original advertisement. No. There was no such thing as an update, it had to be complete on launch. An expansion wasn't just horse armor, but an actual extension to the game.

⬆ maybe this #weeCee #retroPC project is of interest to you @ajroach42?
Perhaps not as low-end budget and off-the-shelf components as you were looking for in your earlier thread, but maybe interesting nonetheless? -
Just finished watching LGR's video on rasteri's weeCee, a "tiny new MS-DOS and WIndows gaming PC".
Not available pre-built or as a kit, but the weeCee project designs are on CircuitMaker, complete with design files and components list.#weeCee #MSDOS #DOS #WindowsGaming #Win95 #Win98 #LGR #rasteri #PC #retrocomputer #retroHardware #tinkering #DIY
