  1. I may have mentioned in some earlier discussions my challenges with my id.4, it's been back since early August, but we are working through some discussions with VW now about the status of the car. We have really liked it, loved having an EV in general, I'd really like to be _satisfied_

  2. The saga continues. Yesterday's #vwid4 #vw #id4 update... Could be fixed as soon as end of day today. (I saw no activity on the vw app).

    So, next update Monday.

  3. Update... There is no update.
Parts were in, but tech wasn't available.
Next update, Thursday, which will be day 27. 15 business days.

  4. Day 18 of my brand new (3 days, 139 miles) VW id.4 is still in the shop. Still waiting for parts.
Will be another 2-3 days from parts until it's fixed.

Day 12 of being broken, business day 9

I want a very detailed explanation of what happened, and why I should trust this is a one off incident.

  6. If you are keeping score at home. This morning's update from the dealer regarding my id.4 was less than promising. Never seen this in a car with so few miles. They are going to have a VW tech come out, no ETA on resolution. No real detail.
    I've got a loaner, but I'm burning gas. :/

  7. Dealer 1 effectively punted... Said EV battery needs replacement. I'm not sure this is the answer, but bummer that dealer 1 is a no go. Getting trucked to dealership I bought it from for service.
    No loaner yet... :l

  8. Not off to a good start. Being towed to the dealership. #VWid4

  9. So it should do a full 32A, if it was designed for a 40A breaker, instead of 28A. And 28A isn't even a 20% derate, it'd be 25.6A. It'd be fine on a 35A breaker/receptacle, except there are no 35A receptacles in the US (nor 40A), only 30A and 50A.

If you have a 30A breaker, it'll possibly pop a breaker (it did to me) even at only 28A, though it shouldn't have. Or if you have a 50A breaker, then you're charging slower than you could with an equivalent priced cable, over 40% faster.

  10. Btw, if you're thinking of getting an #VWid4, DO NOT buy the charging cable that comes with it. (Not entirely sure you can, but it was listed as an extra item on the window sticker with it's own price.)

It's a waste of money. It says it's 32A, except that it will only charge at 6.7kW, or 28A. That is a really bad/stupid number, because in the US there isn't a 32A breaker, it's usally 30, 40 or 50 amp. But with a 20% derate for continuous, it's actually 40, 32 or 24 amp.
