Ninguid cars block the sidewalk. Snow primped tin forms a guard of honour. A thick layer of ice on top, the frog in my throat hibernates. Once bewitched by your charm, I guess, it was fun while it lasted. For you, anyway.

They were #beleaguered on all sides by waves of flowers. Devouring food crops. Rooting through structures no matter the material. Sending clouds of soporific pollen to make legged animals--including humans--lie down and be devoured.
"Planet of the flowers," a fanciful stellar estate agent had named it, not knowing how right she was, or how many lawsuits the survivors would file against her firm for inadequate surveying.

Aside from the #SchoolShooting, May had never heard of Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
She was surprised to learn she'd been born in MN. Her mother was a concert #Violinist. Hearing her dad read "The Song of #Hiawatha" reduced her to tears & was her earliest memory.
A South Florida #Conservationist, Marj wrote in her seminal #Book, The #Everglades (1947):
"[There are] #Gardens of branching corals... [with] angelfish & #PARROTFISH... Shell creatures are everywhere."

The street was full of children, sturdy and well bundled, flowing downhill from the neighborhoods toward the school. A cluster of teens on scooters flashed by laughing. Younger kids ran or skipped or stopped for warm cider at the corner shop.
I, old enough to remember when streets were for cars, not kids, let them flow around me, a worn stone in their bonny river, and drank from my own mug of hot, sweet cider.

Yesterday she was hale, #bonny. Now my little sister thrashes about on her pallet until exhaustion bids her sleep.
The same sickness carried away half the village. And our parents.
I lave her brow, then step outside. The night breeze brings some relief, but no answers.
