Fajada Butte is a very special place in Chaco Culture National Historical Park. The Sun Dagger site on the butte is fascinating. You can read about it at this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fajada_Butte#Sun_Dagger_site

Would you believe that coffee mattered 1000 years ago to the Ancestral Puebloans? One could surmise that looking at this Pueblo II period mug. I don't know about the coffee, but this is a 1000-year-old mug.
(East-central Arizona. Cup is displayed behind some fairly dirty plexiglass.)
Edit: I've been reminded coffee originated in Yemen & wasn't brought to the Americas until later. Ancestral Puebloans had access to cocoa beans, however.

Here's a Kokopelli a "fertility deity, usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player" by the Hopi & Zuni. But, "the name Kokopelli may be a combination of Koko, another Hopi/Zuni deity, & pelli, the Hopi/Zuni word for the robber fly, an insect with a prominent proboscis & a prominently rounded back." And there you go, a great example of why I and many others recommend not attempting to interpret the meaning of prehistoric rock imagery.

Good grief, the entire Abajo (Blue) Mountains are on fire in the heart of Utah's canyon country. The Abajos range from pinyon-juniper woodlands and sagebrush steppe to an alpine environment. There are thousands of cultural sites in and around the Abajos.
As of 7/3:
Total Personnel: 524
Size: 85,370 Acres
Percent of Perimeter Contained: 0%
Estimated Containment Date: 08/01/26More info:
