Most of the Viper's bugloss at out local Country Park has well and truly dried and has seed heads well and truly laden. Just a few feet away, though, this one was having a retro party all of its own.

I'm home now and have downloaded the photos from my (proper) camera. This is what the flowers look like close up. Thanks to some rather nifty biochemistry, budding flowers are pink, open ones are blue.
Btw - in case you've not come across the name before, the second word is pronounced bew-gloss rather than bug-loss.
Oh - and I meant to say, bumblebees love them! There were loads buzzing around feeding on these this afternoon.
