  1. Varia Download Manager Adds yt-dlp Support

A new version of the Varia download manager was released at the weekend – an update described by its developers as probably the “biggest since the first release”. I’ve written about Varia before and, as I said then, I appreciate that the idea of using a dedicated download manager app on the desktop isn’t as obvious today as it was a decade ago. Most people have fast internet connections, meaning even large downloads complete in seconds, and the built-in download tools in web-browsers are sufficient. Plus, we all tend to use streaming media services these days thus negating the need :sys_more_orange:

  2. mimo ze jeszcze nie ruszyłem w dłuższą trasę z radarem, to powiem Wam, ze róznica miedzy Varia RTL515 a IGPSport SR30 jest znacząca.

    - niemal bezbłędna detekcja aut
    - niemal działanie w czasie rzeczywistym (min. opóźnienie - fizyki nie oszukasz)
    - aplikacja varia w android informuje ze jedzie samochód albo jest bezpiecznie.

    geeez :))

  3. Use Varia Download Manager? Install the Official Browser Extension

Avid users of Varia, a modern download manager for Linux desktops, may want to check out official browser extensions. By installing the official Varia browser extension in Google Chrome/Chromium or Mozilla Firefox you no longer have to copy and paste download links from the browser into the app: just click an icon to punt the link to the app directly, where it can then download. “When the extension is enabled, it will route all started downloads to Varia. In order to route the downloads to Varia, make sure to flip the switch in the extension, and make sure Varia is :sys_more_orange:

  4. Varia is a Brand New Download Manager for Linux

Varia is a new, open-source download manager for Linux based on Aria2, a powerful command-line download utility. As the user interface is built with GTK 4 and libadwaita, Varia looks perfectly in-keeping with other modern GTK apps Ubuntu offers: Of course, it’s 2023 and we all (apparently) live in a world of blazing fast internet connections, where giant files download in seconds, and everything else gets streamed or accessed on-demand. Are dedicated desktop download managers still useful? If you need to download a large file over an unreliable internet connection (or if your computer dies mid-way through said transfer) most :sys_more_orange:
