Well I finally got a copy of the book that the #Vaesen game is based on. Signed by the author/artist and it came with a signed print as well.

Session Zero gestern für #Vaesen im Königreich Bayern gemacht. Danach ist mein Kopf wieder in den Hyperfokus gegangen um noch mehr Fragemente an die Kernidee anzubinden. In today's #Vaesen game I started my group on the first mystery out of the Seasons of Mystery book called "A Dance With Death". I'm enjoying running the adventure and the players are loving it as well. One of the best moments so far has been early on one of the male NPC's challenges the toughest looking male PC to an arm wrestling contest. The PC lost the contest and the NPC started bragging about it quite a bit so one of the other PC's stepped up. #ttrpg

Am vergangenen Donnerstag wurde wieder in der Hansa Bibliothek Pen&Paper gespielt.

Konkret haben wir wieder unsere Vaesen-Kampagne um den nordischen Horror fortgesetzt. Weiterhin gab es eine lustige Runde "Little Wizards". Unter dem Strich ein entspannter Abend mit mit neun Teilnehmenden.

Der Morgen begann dort, wo der abend zuvor endete: Auf der Toilette. Noch einmal eine Krankmeldung raus, noch einmal den Tag vergammeln. Immerhin konnte ich Admin-Kram erledigen. Am Nachmittag dann eine plötzlich aufkommende Verschlechterung meines Zustands, bis dann auch wieder völlig unvermittelt, sich alles wieder richtig anfühlt in meinem Körper. Nur bleierne Müdigkeit bleibt. Heute Abend ist dann eigentlich die Vorbereitung für die nächste #Vaesen Session geplant, aber #amendedestages weiß ich noch nicht ob ich dazu in der Lage bin. Vielleicht wäre es sinnvoll mich hinzulegen…

am Donnerstag wurde wieder in der Hansa Bibliothek Pen&Paper gespielt. Dabei hatten die 11 Teilnehmenden viele Stunden Spaß.

Konkret haben wir unsere Vaesen-Kampagne fortgesetzt. Weiterhin hieß es "Welcome to the Hellfire Club" mit einer klassischen Runde Dungeons & Dragons.

Nachdem das Headquarter ausgebaut wurde (sie haben jetzt einen Botanischen Garten mit Gärtner), ging es in den Süden von Schweden. Die Reise dahin war sehr musikalisch, alkoholisch, kalt und laaaaaange.
Endlich am Zielort angekommen, haben die extreme Kälte und Dunkelheit sie nicht gehindert, dem Hilferuf zu folgen und Personen auszufragen - anstatt mal zu essen und zu schlafen 😂

In 4 Wochen geht's weiter. Wir sind alle gespannt 😁

@breadwizard Good review! I always appreciate your "getting it to the table" as a segment. Couple of questions that you may or may not be able to answer:

* Are you familiar with Dungeon World fronts (with grim portents and impending doom)? I'd be interested to hear how similar or different they are from Vaesen's "Countdown and Catastrophe".
* Is it just the 1st party adventures that are way too wordy? Have you seen any good ones in a more usable style?

I ran my first actual session of #Vaesen last night. I'm using Dance of Dreams, included in the core book. It's baby's first straight-up mystery scenario so hope I did okay.

We all seemed to have fun but keeping things moving required more GM involvement than I normally like. I can't shake the feeling that I was too heavy-handed at times. That could also just be Dance of Dreams.

Recently, I had the pleasure to try out the #vaesen #ttrpg in a one-shot . The game is based on the Year Zero Engine like e.g., Coriolis, and was easy to grasp. The handouts are beautiful. We had such a blast that... it will become two-shot. 😄 I'm looking forward to soon playing the priest Otto again.

Session Zero of Vaesen tonight and I'm very under-prepared. This is worse than the usual last minute stress.

Задзяўбаўся з Inkscape. Імпартаваць PDF у SVG ён мне імпартаваў, а вось пасля экспарту рэзультата ў PDF файл выглядае жудасна. Не знайшоў добрага рашэння, у рэзультаце зрабіў друк у PDF, які мне растэрызаваў усё, уключаючы шрыфты. Пакуль што для маіх мэтаў хопіць.

I love the art for the Vaesen RPG. It's evocative. It has an opinionated style. It's mostly (all?) by the same artist, Johan Egerkrans, so it is cohesive and imposes itself onto the game, influencing how the game is received and played.

I love that.

Similarly, I love the art in Knave 2e by Peter Mullens. The art in that slim tome makes me want to play THAT game.

JC usually does an exhaustive review of adventure modules from various systems and then explains ways to work around any hiccups that he's discovered in play AND, if that weren't enough, gives away resources to make running them easier.
