There is a discord where we can discuss details: https://discord.gg/qRnDCjknq - or here, of course!

Pinned note for people who ask:
I'm a blind, autistic, chronically ill usability tester with a focus on accessibility and real-world screen reader use (primarily NVDA on Windows, web apps, and complex workflows).
I'm open to occasional paid usability or accessibility studies, including games, as long as the team is open to feedback from someone with multiple disabilities. My availability is limited, and I prioritize work that values lived-experience input rather than simulated testing. I don't do formal audits.
If you think something might be a good fit, you're welcome to DM me with details. If it's not a match, no hard feelings.

🤪 Ah, yes, the pinnacle of web design innovation: 🍷Testing on the inebriated. Because, obviously, the best way to ensure a smooth user experience is to assume everyone will be three sheets to the wind when they visit your website. Forget usability testing; just get tipsy and smash that "Drunk" button! 🤦♂️

In the tool for managing user research, I multiselect a dozen people in the research participant pool, and then invite them by email using the template I created.
And I wait. No responses.
A day and a half later, I realise only 1 person was sent an email, because multiselect has no effect. Only the last-clicked row with the focus got an email.
Was this tested with users? 1½ days lost to usability!

@Mastodon
@Gargron
Hello dear developer,
can you do something about the interface design of the #Mastodon website?I always find it difficult to find my way around and it doesn't appeal to me personally. My attention to the content is distracted by the design.
Can you carry out another #usability test with different age groups? Thank you for your work!
P.S. If I use the app, there is no problem, but we also want to reach new people, don't we?

Usability testing!
Setting up a usability testing kit. Observation and analysis form/spreadsheet for now. Will come with more explanation and how to set up and run a usability test. What do you need you need or would think is needed? Both when it comes to templates, but also explanations on how to go about setting up, running, analyze and communicate a usability test?

Not having a great day. Trying to get a #UsabilityTesting job done to earn money for my new computer but I'm having a bad #BrainFog day. Have to do screen recordings exploring different parts of a website. This study has 8 tasks so I'll do 8 recordings and answer 8 question sets. Tried to record task 1 twice and I don't like how I sound and sometimes what I say doesn't make sense. Probably not helping that I've been out of one of my meds for a few days. Medical situation here is still a mess.

Working with user flow helps me most when I start thinking of how to guide a user through an app so that they can reach their goals fast and easy. I am also using flows to plan clickable prototypes for usability testing.
Are you using user flows in your projects? When and how are you doing it?

Simple but effective ways to conduct user research:
- Participate as a silent observer in onboarding or training sessions for users.
- Schedule a user interview every now and then and get a 20-minute explanation of how a user uses the product and where they have difficulties.
- Use the feedback from the customer success team.
