I noticed that Upstart Crow is screening on #BBC2 this evening. I got quite excited for a moment, then discovered it was a repeat of Series 1, Episode 1. That’s disappointing, but if you haven’t watched this excellent comedy, I’d recommend it.

I also made it to the evening performance of The Upstart Crow and that's a fun, knockabout treat. Ben Elton clearly delights in playing with language and with the quirks of Shakespearean plotting and the cast are clearly having fun with the material.

There was also "a little bit of politics" sprinkled liberally throughout that gave the comedy a lot of heart and empathy. A lovely way to spend an evening.

So excited to be in London for a theatre double-header. My mum and I are currently loitering in the Barbican waiting for the matinee performance of My Neighbour Totoro and, later, we'll head into the West End for the evening performance of The Upstart Crow.

Any fans of British #comedy or #WillShakespeare out there? I've just finished watching season 2 of #UpstartCrow, a satire penned by the brilliant #BenElton and loosely based on the life and work of the Bard of Avon, his household, and the company of actors who put on his plays. I'm sure I'm not catching all the witty references but I'm loving the ones I do and #HarryEnfield is hilarious as always as Will's slovenly father.
