  1. I experimented with #RAG & #NotebookLM.
I'm not a fan of #genAI, however, as a research support partner at the #UniOslo Library, I have to stay on top of what is used.
Uni Oslo provides "data safe" access to #ChatGPT & NotebookLM. The library staff had to undergo mandatory training in how to use and manage expectations around genAI.
I used my most cited and requested article, Video Game Framings (2015), for an experiment. Read the result on my website annikarockenberger.com/2025-10

  7. 👉 We did a thing, and I wrote about it: At the beginning of February, we held a transcription sprint for #Arabic to train an #ATR model in Transkribus.
Read about what we did and how we did it on our project blog on #Hypotheses: dsenetwork.hypotheses.org/749
Yes, we know there are excellent ATR models for Arabic out there; they're just not available on #Transkribus, and that is the platform researchers here at #UniOslo prefer.

  12. The #SustainableDSE network at #UniOslo hosted a talk by Jens Erlend Braarvig from the Norwegian Institute of Philology about the #BibliothecaPolyglotta corpus of editions.
I wrote a short 📝 blog post on our website dsenetwork.hypotheses.org/275. There's much more to say! But that will be part of a longer publication, to be expected somewhen after summer next year.
Stay tuned and check out the ☸️ 🕋 ✝️ multilingual library of major religious texts that is Bibliotheca Polyglotta www2.hf.uio.no/polyglotta/inde.

  16. Today, I will present our progress w/ the bilingual #DigitalScholarlyEdition of the #Danish #EthicaComplementoria prints from 1674 + 1678!
I'm happy to be invited to speak for the #Bookhistory research group at #UniOslo.
We've successfully transcribed & tagged 600+ pages (using #Transkribus for #AutomaticTextRecognition helped tremendously!) & are about to map them onto the #DeutschesTextarchiv #DTA base format. We'll make some adjustments for publication w/ #Bokselskap bokselskap.no/

  18. The #HumIT group at the Faculty of Humanities at #UniOslo seeks a #ResearchSoftwareEngineer #Developer w/ strong #DigitalHumanities background. The position is part of a team of developers & researchers, and you can expect a potpourri of exciting tasks & methods partnerships!
English and a Scandinavian language are required; however, you have 2 years to acquire a B2 level in Norwegian if you're not yet there. So, my #German #DHd bubble: apply and become my new colleague!

  24. Tiny follow-up: my application for 20% research time for 2024 was accepted!! I will continue w/ the #NorKorr #EdvardMunch #Correspondence project, i.e. publish the Data Paper & start a larger study on mapping #DigitalScholarlyEditions at the #UniOslo & greater Oslo area! Excited!!
I will also continue working on preparing the Danish #EthicaComplementoria for publication; I have some funds for an assistant to help with creating a proper #TEI document based on #Transkribus transcription.

  25. 🧵 2/ #ResearchSupportPartnershipUiO For the spring, I have been invited to co-teach a BA class on #EarlyModern #EnvironmentalHistory
I will introduce data management & use #Zotero & #Tropy for managing bibliographical data and digitised documents.
At a later point, I will guide students through a workflow of #AutomaticTextRecognition w/ #Transkribus to translation w/ #UniOslo #ChatGPT4. We will look into biases and snares when it comes to using these tools for working with/ historical sources.

  26. There it is 🎉 🙌 ! The #EdvardMunch correspondence metadata dataset for #NorKorr incl. metadata from 8.527 letters to and from Munch, harvested from the eMunch.no #DigitalScholarlyEdition and enriched w/ #VIAF #Wikidata #Geonames authority data.
    We are so happy!
Check it out, download it, play around, and do whatever you want! Available on the #UniOslo repository Dataverse.no at doi.org/10.18710/TAFUSV
P.S. It would be rad if you cited the dataset, though :)

  27. It's #Monday! This week will be busy! Starting w/a workshop selection meeting for the #DSDays Digital Scholarship Days at #UniOslo. Tomorrow, I present @tadirah #TaDiRAH at the Dept. of Archaeology, Conservation & History. Then it's #ResearchSupportPartnershipUiO #Wednesday. On Thursday, the Dept. has a #DigitalHumanities conference. On #Friday I prep the 1st #BærtUt #Sustainable #DigitalScholarlyEditions workshop together w/ the Center for Ibsen Studies and colleagues from the Nordic Countries.

  28. I'm probably a bit late to the party, but today I had #UniOslo's own #GPT write a #Python script for me, & it works!! Yes, I could have done it myself, but since I'm not coding very often, it would have taken a long time. What I found particularly helpful was that each line of code came with a comment explaining what happens and a set of very well-written instructions on what the code does and how. And bc. I'm all for transparency; I added the script's non-human author to its metadata.
