I don't normally follow the goings-on of my alma mater, but they still send me these quarterly(?) magazines, so I have some idea what's going on. I was sad to learn that Dr. Hrabowski retired last year (he'd been President at least 30 years), but this looks like an exciting new direction. #UMBC #Retrievers

Freeman A. Hrabowski will receive the National Academies' Public Welfare Medal. Dr. Hrabowski is a #mathematician and the recently retired president of #UMBC. Under his tenure, UMBC implemented highly successful programs to increase the representation of minorities in STEM fields.
I went to UMBC and was a beneficiary of Dr. Hrabowksi's leadership and foresight. I have strong and fond memories of him, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition! http://www.nasonline.org/programs/awards/2023-awards/Hrabowski.html -
