I see #UKCP chair and trustee elections are coming up https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/about-ukcp/elections/ #Counselling #Psychotherapy #Democracy I have #EDI concerns about one of the candidates.

The #UKCP Board of Trustees will continue in their positions following the conclusion of the removal election. I’m pleased they have been held to account and hope for more meaningful connection and consultation on EDI issues.

Following the UKCP board decision to withdraw from the MOU and from membership of the Coalition Against Conversion Therapy, Therapists Against Conversion Therapy and Transphobia (TACTT) put out an open letter and collected signatures from UKCP members which led to the UKCP board being called to account.

“UKCP remains fully committed in its belief that conversion therapy seeking to change or deny a person’s sexual orientation and/or gender identity is harmful and must not be practised. I'm most sorry to hear that the #SCoPEd framework has been adopted by #BACP #UKCP and others. I think it embeds modality politics and further structurally disempowers those already power down in society while providing no benefit for clients.
