The Travellers get to the end of the introductory arc of our Milieu Zero campaign for Traveller, visiting the final world which was the irradiated Nirinirk. It had a bit of a Fall Out vibe, and the Travellers decide to raid a museum and shoot the local wildlife.

Version 1.8.295 of Star Systems is now released. Star Systems is a tool to help referees manage campaigns for the Traveller role-playing game.
Released MgT2e 0.23.1 for Mongoose Traveller 2e on FoundryVTT. Some of the features include:
* Fixes for effects, especially dodge and parry.
* Updates to the random NPC generator
* Allow unrefined fuel to be purchased from worlds that also supply refined fuel
* Support for fractional cargo amounts (useful for spare parts)
* Made it easier for GMs to fiddle price of trade items on worlds.

The Travellers in our Milieu Zero campaign are getting to the end of their shakedown cruise. They just need to figure out what to do with their captured pirate, who is also key to a huge corruption scandal, and sell lots of illegal goods for a decent profit.

Our Traveller campaign continues, with the Travellers discovering that the pirate captain they have captured has a colourful past. Accused of corruption, she had fled a military tribunal half a dozen years ago.
But maybe there's another side to her story?

I’m currently developing a feature that allows you to incorporate Traveller characters into Star Systems. You can generate them elsewhere and input the data into the app, which is useful for player characters. Or you can use the package-based Traveller creation directly in the app, which is useful for quicker NPC creation.
Some notes on latest work on my Mongoose Traveller system for FoundryVTT, improving support for random generation of NPCs.
Not quite ready for release yet, but the basics are working.

Why do the #TravellerRPG’s Sword Worlds have both a Caliburn and an Excalibur?
So our Traveller game this week went completely sideways into unexpected territory, as the players took options I haven't seen for a long while. It was a lot of fun for all of us.
There was space combat, followed by legal and moral discussions about what to do with pirates and their spacecraft after capturing them. It's not as if the Travellers are within the Imperium at the moment, so there's nobody to enforce any laws outside the atmosphere.

The Travellers go on a long train journey, then head to Smoke City to investigate the last of the factions on this world. Their journalist gets some good footage of sweaty steam train firemen whilst others have a lazy picnic several kilometres above.

So, I decided to pick up 4 of the Mongoose Traveller RPG books, to see how things are going in Traveller these days. I was pretty big on the original black books (albeit very little of the Imperium lore) and also used the Megatraveller rules back in the day (but again, not in the Imperium setting). I also started the Internet Traveller Mailing list back in the late 1980s. Wonder if I will actually start up a game. We shall see! #Traveller #ttrpg #TravellerRPG

After a couple of weeks away, it was good to get back to our Traveller campaign. The Travellers are at a new world, which is lacking both government and law.
So they need to be careful, and figure out just how the fledgling new Imperium can turn the world's instability to its advantage in our Milieu Zero campaign.

One thing that I find curious with settings of #TravellerRPG is how easy is it for human life on various planets. I cannot imagine low gravity planet with natural human life on it, either you have space tech or immigrants to fill in cause denizens cannot reproduce. I don't even want to think of developmental issues of people raised in such environments or anyone living there for a long time.
To me a third to half of the world rolled cannot sustain human life without serious alterations.
The new ship design/validation tool for my Star Systems app is now completed. It supports both core and High Guard rules/options. You can use it to just validate a starship or you can save a full starship with a configuration, type, name, and description. You can also add one or more images. This version is not yet published as I have more tests to run, but soon.
The Travellers arrive at the world of Vlaakier. It's a water world, with cities built from strapped together ships. The Travellers are here to find some samples of the large worms that live in the ocean. They also do some diving, and argue politics with the locals.

There are two fictional radio transmissions that always chill me to the bone.
People who know me will know exactly what I am talking about, and can switch channels now. :)
One is from the cover of a science fiction game, the other from a song.
Let's talk about the game first.
Traveller is the granddaddy of all science fiction role-playing games. Influenced heavily by Andre Norton and the Golden Age of SciFi, it was first published as three little black books that came in a little black box.
On the cover with "Traveller" in red, and "Science-Fiction Adventure in the Far Future" beneath it in white.
Above that though, was one of the most attention-grabbing fragments of text ever. It was a radio transmission:
"This is Free Trader Beowulf, calling anyone...
Mayday Mayday... we are under attack... main drive is gone... turret number one is not responding... Mayday... losing cabin pressure fast.. calling anyone..please help... This is Free Trader Beowulf... Mayday"
It paints a bleak picture of a lone ship in the depths of space, out of luck and out of time. Does the crew have any chance at all? Even after decades, this chokes my throat and brings tears to my eyes.
The second is from the Mike Oldfield song Five Miles out. It is also a mayday call. But this time it is the weather that is the enemy. "Mayday mayday mayday

Here we have a little Beechcraft 18 caught up in a thunderstorm it has almost no chance of dealing with. But the pilot is going to do his best to try and get help from the ground.
The ATC is doing their best, too, but it is not looking good "Victor Juliet your identity I have lost in the violent storm. Communicate or squawk emergency."
Telling the pilot that they only got part of the message, and asking for more information - or for the plane to switch its transponder to the emergency channel 7700.
Again, someone alone in an untenable position, doing their best to get help and to hang on as long as they can.
And yes, they have been inspirations for me.

I've been working on adding support for Robots to MgT2e on FoundryVTT for a while, along with support for the new vehicle rules. Though they aren't finished (or anywhere close to it), I've decided to push things out as they are so people can try them out.
Latest v0.22 version of MgT2e for Foundry has the added support, plus there's a video to go over what works.
