I've just seen Evie Waddell in Edinburgh's TradFest. I'm not well versed in traditional folk music, but this was just brilliant. She sings in Gaelic, Scots and English, and signs many of her songs. She even taught the audience how to sign some bits. She also acts out the words and dances.
Her enthusiasm is so infectious! The whole thing was simply wonderful.
If trad/folk is your thing - or even if it's just good music and a great time - get to see her!

Hey Dublin-based music lovers! @sivemusic is playing a lunchtime concert in the Project Room in Malahide Castle's Visitor Centre this Saturday the 27th as part of #TradFest.
She's doing a set of her original songs (gorgeous & adventurous alt-folk) before being joined by myself & vocalist Clara Rose for a performance of a song cycle she has written for 3 female voices, called In Cloak and Womb.#MastoDaoine #IrishMusic #IrishMastodon #Brigid1500

The second TradFest gig was Kathryn Tickell and her band, the Darkening. This was more folky folk but still mixed all sorts of other things in: the guitarist had a a wahwah pedal and a fuzzbox, and they even played a bit of Daft Punk.
Anyhow, it doesn't matter what it was, because it was very good. Really, really enjoyable. Just brilliant.
