RIP Tom Robbins, a great author, known for Jitterbug Perfume and Even Cowgirls Get the Blues.
But Skinny Legs and All was my absolute favourite, with an Arab and a Jew who open restaurant near the United Nations, new/old Gods in the Middle East, and an original take on the Dance of the Seven Veils.

I’m very sad to have just learned that Tom Robbins has died. A brilliant novelist that entranced his followers for a number of decades. Known for novels such as "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues”, “Jitterbug Perfume”, and numerous others, he will be missed. The many stories by Tom Robbins were a major literary influence on my life. Creative minds and inventive story-tellers are a rarity.
If you haven’t read one of the many Tom Robbins novels I highly recommend that you explore his collection.

Tři američtí vojáci od letectva, kteří byli ve válce ve Vietnamu sestřeleni a následně americkou armádou považováni za nezvěstné se rozhodli nevrátit se domů a zůstat nezvěstní. Zůstat inkognito. Nakonec se usídlili v Laosu na kraji jedné horské vesničky a tam se věnovali vaření drog, duchovnímu životu a tak podobně.
Jednoho dne je ale jeden z nich chycen při pašování drog a vládu začne zajímat, kde jsou zbylí dva.
Trocha Laosu a Vietnamu, trocha Thajska a Ameriky, trocha japonské mytologie a spousta filozofování a humoru a... majonézy.
Prostě Tom Robbins. -

Další úžasná věc od Toma Robbinse, co se mi dostala do rukou. Opět je tu spousta filozofování a teologických úvah, opět skvělé a praštěné postavy i zápletka, opět trocha drog a sexu, opět kritika církve a konzumní společnosti a opět úžasně vtipně a hravě napsané.

Perfektně ujetá záležitost s perfektně ujetými postavami a zápletkou. Kniha, u které jsem se chvílemi smál tak moc, až na mě lidi v autobuse koukali, jako na dementa. Zároveň jsou tu ale pasáže a myšlenky, které vás donutí se zamyslet.
