  1. I met some people on here the other day that were all about supporting self-hosting, and community computing, and I cannot find them by searching -- could anyone help point me in the right direction? IIRC they had something about trying to use residential IPs and sharing services, but I can't remember.

I would love to get my makerspace more into community computing.

  2. few things endear me towards the internet again as curated and catalogues lists of links do: url.town/

i've really enjoyed setting up a tiny internet bio that is just plain cute, at catileptic.omg.lol/

and a tiny repository of silly things that occupy my mind & hands, at catileptic.omg.lol/now

now, how does one become part of a webring?

  4. @macstainless

I put up my first web site in 1992-93 using the pico text editor remotely over telnet

I have no interest in going back to that, thank you very much

  7. @witchescauldron The last exodus hardly impacted me, other than a few more followers. My timeline is about the same as before, because I'm still following the same people. The signal to noise ratio is still high, and it's not like an eternal September. Server bandwidth is about the same.

The secret is to build small and scale horizontally. Not to create giant noisy metropolises which then become hard/expensive to administer.
