The first two episodes of #MastersOfTheAir dropped last night on #AppleTV.

If you liked #BandOfBrothers and #ThePacific, you’ll probably like this.

For me, it’s a “prestige” formula that feels dated: stoic one-dimensional men acting behind masks, pretty barmaids, token people of color, faceless enemies, good VFX and production design, forgettable opening theme.

I’ll watch it for my $8/mo but I’m not excited about it.

Pour Noël on m'a offert le coffret Blu-ray de #BandOfBrothers et #ThePacific.
Je n'avais pas vu Band of Brothers lors de sa diffusion à la télé (il y a *gloups* 23 ans), c'était donc enfin l'occasion de rattraper ce manque. On a terminé le visionnage des 10 épisodes hier soir.

estábamos @Savior1980 y yo hablando en el bus de series, me decía que su jefe le había recomendado #ThePacific y hemos comentado que ahora se viene otra de ese rollo y #BandofBrothers en AppleTV+ (#MastersoftheAir), a mí lo bélico me da pereza pero he ido a ver de qué año son y parece que Spielberg&Co tienen que hacer una miniserie de WWII en casa década (2001, 2010, 2024). Me ha dado por mirar si están en algún sitio para ver y parece que #BandofBrothers es la serie de Schrödinger 🤣

Wrapping up the last two episodes of #ThePacific before I finish my #webcomic update for this week.

I think part of why #ThePacific doesn't hit as hard is the lack of the bookends on each episode that #BandOfBrothers had.

Specifically, the veteran spots (that still make me tear up) and the "broad strokes" text about where the war was heading at the time.
