Is 'community collections' better? A commonwealth of community collections? CGDC seems a mix of items kept by communities and digitised, and born-digital content that's the result of community research, oral histories, outreach projects to gather metadata, memories, etc #TaNC

There's something about 'generated' in CGDC that bothers me, that didn't when UGC was so hot in the mid-aughts. Maybe a post-LLM thing? Or that it mixes community research with preservation and sharing?

It wasn't called 'CGDC' (community generated digital content) when I studied community history online for my thesis https://www.miaridge.com/my-phd-research/ but it's great to see the subject taken so seriously! #TaNC

The DPC has partnered with the AHRC-funded #TaNC "Towards a National Collection Project" and its initiative "Our Heritage, Our Stories" (#OHOS), working with a wide range of community groups and archives to research and document the community archives landscape in the UK.
This collaboration has resulted in the development of a toolkit designed to address the needs of community archives.

#TANC Mobilizes 100 #Tenants to Disrupt Berkeley #Landlords’ Obscene Eviction Celebration
On Tuesday, September 12th, TANC mobilized more than 100 tenants to disrupt Berkeley landlords’ obscene celebration of eviction.
With less than a day’s notice, our members rallied with banners and signs outside Freehouse Pub, where the Berkeley Property Owners Association hoped to celebrate the end of local pandemic-era eviction restrictions. We later carried into the party a cake decorated with the words, “Hey landlords! Get a real job!” and chanted, among other things, “Eat the cake.”
As widely reported, #BPOA members were quick to anger, attacking tenants unprovoked. We stand with our members who were assaulted by landlords, just as we stand with any tenant facing eviction. :antifa_100:
