  1. Sta solidair met de huurders in SoZa

    Paleis van Justitie, Den Haag, woensdag 17 juni om 12:30 CEST

    (English below)

    🏠 Sta solidair met de huurders in SoZa!

    🗓️ 17 juni 12:30

    🏠 Show your support for the tenants at SoZa!

    🗓️ June 17, 12:30 PM
    📍 Palace of Justice, Prins Clauslaan 60

    The SoZa Tenants’ Union is fighting back, together with BPW! Property managers VORM and OAK Management want to evict the tenants unlawfully, without offering any form of alternative housing.

    On June 17, there will be a court hearing where the tenants must defend their rights. Show solidarity with the tenants and come to the solidarity rally.

    We won’t solve the housing crisis by making people homeless. Homes for people, not for profit.

  2. Tell the Federal Gov about the rent being too damn high-- it could force landlords who get government-backed loans to behave in ways that protect #tenants.

    "As a result of #TenantOrganizing, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), which regulates Fannie and Freddie, is now deciding whether to condition government-backed loans on a set of tenant protections. These protections could include regulations on rent hikes and evictions, #housing safety requirements, bans on discrimination, and more. If enacted, they could benefit over 12.4 million rental homes across the country."

    So before the July 31 deadline, tell this federal agency any stories of rent hikes and struggles due to housing costs here:

    Here's some background info:

    And please take a moment to share this with anyone you know who's struggled or been displaced by rents being too damn high.

  3. Interesting report in today's @FinancialTimes on the background to #rent #inflation... placing the blame pretty firmly on Letting Agents who:

    advise landlords to raise rents;

    profit from tenant turnover & thus can be hardline on tenant arrears etc.;

    organise/advice bidding up of offered rents by prospective #tenants

    Yup, this is what a dysfunctional #rentiercapitalism looks like!
