CW: Tamon's B-side
I watched the Tamon's B-side (多聞くん今どっち?!) anime and quite liked it!
As a Tumblr user put it - it's a nice take on the idol media in the way that every character is absolutely unhinged :raccoonPeek:
And I really like that the occasional creepy behavior of the ML is actually shown as being creepy & also perceived as creepy by the MC.So I've been reading the manga and just caught up with the anime!
I'm super excited because the next chapter seems to be about Rintaro - who has been hinted at having a secret otaku personality in the anime.
I'm so here for this! I kinda hope that he'll bond with Utage over stan culture. Also I hope that it'll be revealed that the reason he never speaks is because he would only speak about his idol if he were to open his mouth 🙊 Let's hope!! -
"Tamon's B-side" oder dt auch "Echt jetzt, Tamon?!" habe ich schnell durchgeschaut - weils einfach Spaß macht!
Der #Anime dreht sich um ein Hardcore-Fan, deren Nebenjob als Haushaltshilfe sie in die Wohnung ihres geliebten Idols führt. Dort lernt sie dessen völlig andere Seite kennen: Der sexy Aufreißertyp ist privat schüchtern, hat kein Selbstbewusstsein und wandelt stets an der Grenze zur Depression. Während dessen hadert sie mit dem engen Kontakt zur ihrm, das sich garnicht mit dessen Verehrung verträgt. Später lernt sie die ebenso wenig vorzeigbaren privaten Seiten von dessen Kollegen kennen.
Die Idee ist jetzt nicht so neu. Idolserien gibt es viele, ebenso über Fankultur. Und romantische oder Alltagsgeschichten über überraschende private Seiten der Mitmenschen gab es seit den 1990ern (#KareKano) einige. Aber hier gelang eine gute Mischung, dazu passend überdreht aber doch noch charmant, dass es sehr unterhaltsam ist.

The first thing that came to mind is Please Save my Earth but I don't think that's it, Urusei Yatsura also comes to mind but I can't find anything that matches.

I have really been enjoying Tamon's B-Side this season! Which in some ways surprises me.
It's extremely well written, the jokes are punchy, but I've never remotely had someone close to being an "oshi." I've never "stanned" anything seriously in my whole life. That level of parasocial behavior has just never been a thing for me for as long as I can remember. :meowShrug:
Which speaks to how well the show is written because I can still laugh and understand logically where some of this story is coming from! But... It's curious. It feels like I'm just slightly missing out on the joke in a way that I can absolutely notice and wish I wasn't. :neocat_thinking:

Tamon's B-Side Episode 1 Impressions
As a K-Pop/J-Pop fan, this show is already starting off hilariously. Love how the Tamon is all manly and confident while on stage and in front of cameras, then IRL he's an overthinking worry wart with zero confidence.
The female lead Utage is hilarious as a fanatic. Love how she sees this side of him and immediately instead of being crushed by seeing his real self, she works to exude her love for him as an idol.
Then when he swaps back after eating her food... ROFLMAO. Could do without the CG concert, but it didn't look terrible.
Love a good rom-com, and this could be one to watch this season.
