Scum of the Brave Episode 1 Impressions
Finally getting around to this one, my final show to check out from Winter 2026.
Show looks pretty good, and the characters so far are interesting enough. The whole thing about Braves and mafia becoming demon lords is intriguing, and I want more of the backstory.
The relationship between Yashiro and Aki are giving Detectives These Days Are Crazy vibes, but I doubt this show gets as absurd.
Didn't really get too much out of this first episode to form much of an opinion. Will definitely check out a couple more episodes.

Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling Episode 1 Impressions
Yet another series this season I've read a significant amount of the light novel it's based on. This first episode is a tad boring with tis setup.
The animation is definitely cutting corners at times, but the characters look decent.
Based on my enjoyment of the LNs, I'll give this a couple more episodes, but this may be a binge later title. This first episode definitely didn't do a good job of selling the show.

You and I are Polar Opposites Episode 1 Impressions
Loving the character designs and personalities of the male and female MC. Suzuki is a fun ball of energy masking her real self and feelings. Tani is deadpan AF.
This is so awkwardly adorable. I totally understand Suzuki and her constant overthinking, and anxiety. I also enjoy their friends supporting them, and not just poking fun!
I love a great rom-com and this seems like it's going to be amazing! I need more!

Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary Episode 1 Impressions
Awww poor Kaya-chan. So misunderstood and adorable, and also a bad ass for punching that ghost to smithereens!
It's so creepy, but funny at the same time. Definitely getting the Mieruko-chan vibes from the show. These poor kids though... LOL
When Chie says she believes Kaya... loved that moment! Gonna check out some more for sure.

A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans Episode 1 Impressions
Another adaptation of a light novel I've been reading. I absolutely love this one, since it features demi-humans.
I noticed they skipped a lot of the setup part from the light novels and pretty much jumped ahead to the teaching part. They didn't show any of Rei not believing the school was full of demi-humans.
They nailed the characters' designs and personalities. I look forward to enjoying this series, and wonder how far they'll get into the light novel volumes. Currently only up to volume 2 is out in the U.S.

An Adventurer's Daily Grind at Age 29 Episode 1 Impressions
Well this doesn't look great, but it has some funny moments at least. MC is kind of indistinct look-wise, but wasn't completely bland as a personality.
Was not expecting the body shifting of Lily to an adult.The turns out she could be a succubus and that causes her transforming at night. You know I thought the dude taking in a kid led to some funny moments, but unsure how this dynamic will work now and if the comedy continues to hit like it was.
It's already a show that's not a must watch weekly, but I'll give it another episode or 2 to see if it is a binge later type show.

Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord Episode 1 Impressions
Another one I've been reading the light novel of, and one of my current favorites. This has been one I've really looked forward to.
So far it doesn't look the best, but it's not bad. This series is doing a better setup this first episode than Hell Mode. It is actually doing a good job of introducing most of the major players that will surround Van as the story progresses.
Going to be watching this one going forward for sure.

Hell Mode Episode 1 Impressions
I've read a handful of the light novel volumes and really enjoyed them, and checked out a good amount of the manga. Been pretty hyped for this one.
This whole first episode is pure setup for Allen as an MC, his powers, and how Hell Mode affects his progress. It's a tad boring and I found myself checking out. Thankfully I know how the story progresses, so I'll continue with it.
At least we got introduced to Krena this episode.

Wash It All Away Episode 1 Impressions
I love these slice of life anime, and this one seems super cute and wholesome. While I'm sure it won't stay super fluffy for 12 straight episodes, I hope it never strays too far away.
I really liked Kinme. She's a really bright and fun MC. I want to see how the interactions and story telling grows with the community she's a part of.
I'm going to give this a couple more episodes, and I think it could end up as a weekly show, or a definite priority binge later.

You Can't Be in a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! Episode 1 Impressions
I think this show is a little too hung up on reminding you they're childhood friends and situations are rom-com cliches.
Show looks pretty good, not great. The characters aren't that deep, but were entertaining enough.
There were some super laugh out loud moments to be fair, so if this show can relax a bit on the childhood friend reminders, I think this could be fun. Still not sure if its something I want to watch week to week though, but will give it a couple more episodes

Tamon's B-Side Episode 1 Impressions
As a K-Pop/J-Pop fan, this show is already starting off hilariously. Love how the Tamon is all manly and confident while on stage and in front of cameras, then IRL he's an overthinking worry wart with zero confidence.
The female lead Utage is hilarious as a fanatic. Love how she sees this side of him and immediately instead of being crushed by seeing his real self, she works to exude her love for him as an idol.
Then when he swaps back after eating her food... ROFLMAO. Could do without the CG concert, but it didn't look terrible.
Love a good rom-com, and this could be one to watch this season.

Time to finally jump into this Winter 2026 anime season and start checking out the first episodes of the shows I'm interested in.
Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None Episode 1 Impressions
Another of these kicked from the party titles, not that I mind. MC is a little boring so far, and his fight showcasing the mix of talents was not interesting. The ladies introduced were slightly more interesting.
I might check out one more episode, but There's a lot I want to check out this season, and not sure I can stick with a show just being around average.
