  1. As autoexec.bat and config.sys are configured on the Toshiba T1000SE Laptop, I'm focusing on the internet connection. So I can find out what the big deal with this #bbs thing is 😎

My approach is to use a linux machine as a bridge to the network. The Toshiba is connected to it with a null modem cable.

On the software side #mTcp is handling the connectivity using a virtual ethernet card (etherslip). But more on that later...

At this time the serial connection is not set up correctly, so I have some debugging to do 🔍

  2. Let's put the Toshiba T1000SE Laptop to the test, with a classic flightsim of the early nineties.

I think I should make a video to convey the feeling (slow display, flat sound). But hey, it's working and bringing back some good memories!

  3. It's time to fire the Toshiba T1000SE Laptop up for the first time..

    ..and it's working perfectly!

Display, keyboard, ROM, etc.. all good 😎

Next I'd like to focus on the main- and resume-battery, but some parts are stuck in transit.

  5. End of last year i bought a Toshiba T1000SE, a 30 year old Laptop. It came in it's original box, complete with all parts and few signs of usage, wow! Of course, all batteries(3) are dead and you can't run it without the main battery pack.

Hopefully i'll get the machine back to life.

    Quick-Specs:
    9.54MHz CPU
    640KB RAM (conventional)
    384KB Hard-RAM
    Toshiba MS-DOS 3.30 (in 512K ROM) OS
    3.5" 1.44 MB Floppy

Next up: Take it apart and check for leaking capacitors/batteries.
