  1. I’m working on an #OpenWRT project and I’m wondering : what’s the proper way to ensure a service is kept running ? I’m used to rely on systemd for that, but on this platform there’s just old-school #SystemV hacks and rc.local magic, like in the good old Debian Potato days.

Am I supposed to use #Cron for that ? Please tell me I’m not supposed to run an infinite loop in an `rc.local`…

  6. Gerade bin ich zufällig auf #OpenIndiana gestoßen – #OpenSolaris lebt weiter! Es ist großartig, dass solche Projekte dank der Community weiterhin existieren.

  7. I, too, hated #systemd. It didn't work for me. I was a #systemV person for almost 2 decades. It always caused problems. I couldn't tell what was going on with my system half the time, because I was constantly working *against* systemd.

Then something funny happened and it completely changed my perspective.

I sat down and learned it. I read the manual. I learned how it was intended to be used.

The world opened up. Things made sense. Things worked. Things worked better than ever.

I know this won't convert anyone, and I don't care to. You use whatever you want to use, and enjoy it in good health. I still use both, in different cases.

I just wanted to point out that sometimes a little understanding can go a long way.
