Assigned OpenCode (running natively on my BashCore OS) a full CTF mission using only BourneCore (my minimal illumos/OpenIndiana Unix live system) and its tools via SSH.

No GUI, no browser, just pure CLI.

BourneCore handled port‑knocking, SSH, RCE, privesc and full flag capture. All from a tiny VM (2 cores, 2GB RAM).

Two different OS working together as one solid cross‑platform lab.

Just discovered it's totally possible to build custom live ISOs based on OpenIndiana/illumos/SunOS.

​I've just built my first one: it runs like a primordial internal combustion engine for now, but it's the right path!

​The goal? A minimalist CLI toolbox for Unix (an OS I'm absolutely in love with) sysadmins. It's like a wrench of a very weird size, but it works. 🛠️

I'm looking at Repology, and I think most of the distributions and other downstreams have rightfully boycotted #Python #chardet #copywashing. Of course, there's the possibility that some of them are simply out-of-date, though.

So far chardet-7 is distributed by #Chromebrew, #CondaForge (not on Repology), #Homebrew, #KaOS, #OpenIndiana, #openmamba, #Ravenports, #Spack and #T2 SDE. Shame on you!

@ckeen DTrace war auch innovativ, da scheinen mir die späten Linux-Äquivalents mit eBPF weniger… nennen wir es "nutzerfreundlich".
Aber würde mich mal interessieren, wie so ein #OpenIndiana gegen ein #FreeBSD in Benchmarks und bei Konfigurationstätigkeiten abschneidet.

Wie beliebt ist eigentlich #OpenIndiana / #Illumos als #OpenSolaris-Fortführung? Man hört so wenig über #Solaris. Ich würde naiv meinen, das müsste doch höhere Produktreife als FreeBSD haben. Solaris war doch eines der coolsten UNIX’.
