At the little creative #Stem club I run with a bunch of high energy 8-10 yr olds they finished off their 3 wheel variant (aka cheap!) #StoRPer #robot builds and got them moving with #micropython on the #pico The stoRPer project originally was part of the @kicad book I wrote for @rpimag and its ace there's lot"s of them in different guises out in the world!

Haven't mentioned #StoRPer for ages. It's normally built as an awd or mecanum but for my low budget kids stem club I've designed a little rear wheel to allow it to be built with just two N20 motors which reduces the cost a fair bit! #opensource #robotics

Just updated the #StoRPer repo. Ages ago I ran a #robotics workshop locally and wanted to use those really cheap 48mm Aliexpress #mecanum wheels. I had to design a hexagonal adaptor to get them to fit the N20 geared motors. Useful for anyone wanting to use em! After running a #robotics workshop in a local makerspace I've donated a #StoRPer kit and set up one of their laptops so that people can go back in the open maker nights and tinker more! #robot #opensource #micropython

Running a #robotics workshop later this week and wanted to be able to use these much cheaper mecanum wheels with the N20 micro geared motors I tend to use on #StoRPer builds. Spent some time dialling in this #3dprinted adapter in @FreeCAD its working well.

Just when I thought I had a complete list, the #stoRPer board I bought off @concretedog just resurfaced on my desk. I need to combine using that with one of these robot projects!

I REALLY loved how many people came up to me whilst I was trading #StoRPer to talk about @FreeCAD I freaking LOVED that people knew my tee logo was out of date, loved the excitement people had around the coming V1. Also properly humbling how many of you thanked me for the FreeCAD book. Ace. #opensource #CAD

Little #StoRPer work has taken place. It's pretty quick and dirty but I've put together a prototype for a "bumper" PCB. It can host bump switches at both sides and a HRS04 ultrasonic sensor module in the centre. Few tweaks and will get some fabricated. #KiCad #Robotics #Opensource

Slowly getting there with the prototype tracked drive system for #StoRPer. Needs further development but having movement is a milestone! Wheels and tracks designed in #FreeCAD

Bit more work on #StoRPer stuff this evening. This Kludge Deck should be the first of a few add on PCB's for the little #opensource #robot that could. :) Of course tis crafted in @kicad

Back on the tracked solution development for the #StoRPer robot in @FreeCAD I'm trying some experiments with grub screws on the drive wheels to create a more rigid attachment to the motor shafts. #FreeCAD #fc3d

More prototyping on the #StoRPer tank tread ideas. This is the next drive wheel to be printed, the inner gap in the wheel is to accommodate the natural slight elephant foot when #3dprinting thin TPU belts at this sort of scale. #FreeCAD #fc3d

Really really draft early prototype mainly to check a few ideas and the circumference versus pitch maths... but a solution for a tank track #StoRPer drive system is getting developed! Real version will be one motor plus one idler wheel per side but this was a good quick and dirty test!

Spotted over on the birb site.. nice to see people building and expanding on their #StoRPer kits this weekend! This one looks amazing and apparently uses a VR headset for control?! #opensource #robot
