  1. How did the Warblers know that the Blackflies would be out in full force today? So many Warblers arrived: Tennessee, Nashville, Cape May, Blackburnian, and so many more. No lack of insects to complain about.
The bugs didn't bite us yet. Any day now.

  2. A rarely seen bird in our garden: a Baltimore Oriole. He tried to get some syrup, clinging upside down to the hummingbird feeder, with limited success. Don't have an orange in the house 😢.
    He looks judgmental!

  5. Long time no see: a Nashville Warbler.
In the drizzle, hopping around looking for bugs, always making sure to stay behind the twigs.

  6. It’s that time of year where I go outside to check out a bird “quickly” and then come back in 1.5 hours later. So many first of year and migrating through birds showin up this week!

Successfully put off all of the indoor work I was planning to get done before afternoon meetings.

  7. They look unreal, like little felted wool balls: a Dark-eyed Junco. They just arrived in town and are looking for seeds.

  8. Keeping their feet warm, one leg at a time: Canada Geese.
A "watchdog" goose kept guard while the others snoozed.

By STACY LIBERATORE, 25 March 2026

"The skies over Tel Aviv were flooded with a sea of crows on Tuesday, in what many people are saying is a 'harbinger of doom' warning.

"Thousands of crows were filmed circling high-rise buildings, including the iconic Azrieli Towers, in dramatic footage that quickly went viral online.

"Many viewers linked the eerie scene to Israel's ongoing tensions with Iran, claiming the spectacle signaled a looming disaster."

  16. Forster’s Tern Over Cape May Harbour

While scanning the skies above Cape May Harbour, I spotted a slender tern gliding past the boat. At first, I wasn’t sure which species I’d photographed—Caspian, Common, or Forster’s? Back at home, subtle field marks confirmed it was Forster’s Tern in breeding plumage. A life bird. One that taught me to look closer.

  17. Working the Dock

At the marina’s edge, the Ruddy Turnstones scurried along the green planks like tiny dockside inspectors.

  18. Buffleheads in Motion

My first sighting of Bufflehead during a boat tour in Cape May felt like trying to photograph wind over water. They moved fast, flew low, and never stopped.

  19. The Cormorants of Cape May

During a boat tour through the Cape May saltmarsh, I observed Double-crested Cormorants at rest, in flight, and in that transitional space between water and sky.

  23. Cape May Island Birding by Boat

A spring morning on the saltmarsh, quiet but alive. I joined a small group aboard *The Osprey* for a birding cruise around Cape May Island, camera in hand and eyes open for coastal migrants. It began with a twig and a watchful Osprey, and became a slow, quiet journey into the rhythm of observation.
