  1. The #springbudget is so god damn depressing. Reducing foreign aid & how far benefits go. How is this any different to the 14 years of Tory rule they’ve been trying to distance themselves from?

I don’t care if it’s just at a local or devolved level, you just aren’t defending a left wing party any more & Neil Findlay leaving #Labour was just the start.

If any Labour member feels that they have even a shred of morality left, they’ll abandon the party that abandoned the working class. #redtories

  2. I see Rachel Reeves thinks she can raise an extra £2bn (which in the scheme of things is not that much) from (enhanced?) tax compliance measures.... the Q. is whether cuts out the civil service (at the HMRC) make an enhancement of tax enforcement feasible, or whether this yet more fantasy economics?

If she cuts back at HMRC it'll just be more long-hanging fruit in the compliance Dept. & no real attention to catch the big (but clever) tax dodgers!

  3. “No political mantra, no tech-bro fantasy, no alluring macroeconomic ideology has stemmed the persistent decline of #EconomicGrowth. Let alone reversed it. To all intents and purposes, we are already living in a #postgrowth world…It may seem unthinkable, but what we need is a chancellor who is prepared to declare that the emperor is naked. That the god of growth is no longer listening to our prayers.”—@ProfTimJackson for

  4. Today's Tory #SpringBudget continues their 14 year record of austerity for public services, cuts for the Scottish budget, and handouts for their wealthy friends.

The most positive thing about it is that it will surely be their last.
