Not only are they powerful, and not only can they open quantum singularities between normal and fluidic space, but they also conjure up fond memories of the Vorlon ships from Babylon 5, and that's always going to be a good thing.

And about the Borg I was just being pedantic for fun, but cyborgs and AI are distinct for me. The Borg made their choices as a collection of species to integrate with technology, but there is never a pure non-biological AI controlling them. And #Species8472 (oh, someday someone is going to find that tag in a search and get so excited) was fully biological and natural, the nanobots were not self-aware they were a designed weapon. -

@quark @lwflouisa the #Borg totally count! AI-gone-rogue (plus #nanotech) is exactly what they are. Plus the #Species8472 plot arc from #Voyager was pretty much AI-gone-rogue too. So yes, it's been done in Trek before. Wait ... could we possible be witnessing the origins of the Borg? Will they somehow shoot any hardware (or wetware) infected with Control into deep space?
