  1. While we wait to find out if Space: 1999 is getting a second season, here’s an educational space adventure featuring some familiar faces in front of and behind the camera.

  2. September 13th, 1999!!! Boom! Bang!

Iconic 70s SF show Space 1999 is getting the 4k treatment and they are going to show a couple of eps in UK cinemas on, of course, Sep 13th! gerryanderson.com/pages/space-

Sweet 70s nostalgia for the era when you went into space wearing flared trousers and big, white plastic belts!

Still have a soft spot for the Eagle craft from the show, made such a great toy.

  3. I just learned The Eagle Obsession exists (thanks @luisfcorreia!). How can I watch this? Doesn't seem to be available anywhere… #space1999 eagledocumentary.com

  5. This is (sadly) completely fake (and no doubt AI slop, apologies) but boy I wish it wasn’t. I’d buy it faster than you could blink and pay almost any price. Holy cow it would be amazing. #LEGO #Space1999

  6. This week, the Moon becomes a reluctant missile platform for two implacable and entirely incompatible genders, both completely untroubled by the possibility that they might kill everyone on the base. Also, the show ends. Sort of.

  8. Brian Johnson (1939-2026)

It’s like let’s take one of my generation’s greatest childhood TV traumas and slap it on a box I have to carry to school each day. No biggie.😱 #Space1999

  10. With "All that Glisters" we are back to a familiar #Space1999 theme:

    We find a glowy rock.
    It is haunted.

  11. The amount of model work in this series is amazing. And it seems like the writing does pick up a little in the 2nd season (I'm just on the 2nd episode, though).

    #Space1999

  12. Well, well. Episode 25 has all new titles, that I don't remember at all. I guess I have started Season 2.

I think they've upgraded their model photography a bit, too.

Oh look! Brian Blessed is back.

Joan Collins appeared on this as well as Star Trek. Took me awhile to recognize her, but her voice and line delivery are distinctive.

    "Mission of the Darians"

  14. #Space1999 "Space Brain"

As a rule of thumb, it bodes ill when the word "brain" appears in an SF series title. 🤨

    Ooh... foamy bubble effects incoming.

  15. @mark They do look like they belong right at home on Moonbase Alpha which, of course, is a big geeky plus. #Space1999

  16. One thing I'm noticing in #Space1999 is a degree of batching of plots and effects: they get a theme and then do two or three episodes based on it together. And once they figure out a way to do certain shots, they reuse it.

The understanding of physics continues to be hilariously bad: "not even wrong" (because it doesn't make enough sense to rise to the level of mere wrongness).

Their effects and stunts have improved by episode 15 or so. I get the impression that a lot of the plots are just excuses to set these up.

  17. Space 1999! Eagle Transporters on patrol. Following some recent black and white explorations I couldn't resist dropping the iconic Eagle into the lunar landscape. Depicted here in the brief window before the inevitable crash landing. #Lightwave3d #Scifi #ScifiArt #Space1999

Model by "Paul aka TheMightSpud" from the long gone and much lamented Foundation3D website where I first cut my Lightwave3d teeth.

  18. With "The Full Circle", we are tackling the classic "cavemen vs astronauts" debate. And frankly, the cavemen are winning, because the astronauts are woefully unprepared for very predictable problems.

    #Space1999

  19. Ooh. I think this planet may only be haunted by the Brian Blessed School of Wayward Shakespearian Rejects.

    "Death's Other Dominion"

    #Space1999

  20. Okay, I thought we might've moved on to a new theme with "Collision Course", but it's starting to look like maybe the asteroid was haunted...

So, more haunted space, after all?
