Anybody got an extremely simple DIY bralette tutorial? Ideally a triangle-cup style similar to this (from the excellent @freesewing ): https://freesewing.eu/showcase/bee-by-ts
I think this is what I want (https://freesewing.eu/docs/designs/bee/options#crossbackties) but if there's a faster/easier one, I'd love to know; it's more for coverage than support, and rough/messy is OK :)
Bonus if it works with T-shirt material (jersey?) scraps! I have a bunch from cropping 'em.

FWIW, I didn't include many recommendations like "go somewhere else", because these notes are mostly about handling a high/low temp situation.
Also, if you've read the whole thing and have new tips from personal/professional experience, or corrections from an expert source, I'd be interested :)
Otherwise, this is not a #SolicitedAdvice post. -
Hey, #chainmail friends: Got a reliable source for high-quality scale #maille?
I've been prototyping with scales from Fire Mountain Gems, but 30-60% are unusable for jewelry – due to scratches/scuffs and the occasional discoloration. :/
Preferably:
- 35.8mm x 22.2mm size option
- USA
- Multicolored aluminum (OR extra points for reasonably-priced titanium/niobium anodized scales!)// #Maker #SolicitedAdvice https://chaos.social/@alexglow/116014646843186181

Is there a site that lists ALL proper nouns in a #book? Like a more comprehensive dramatis personae: people, places, institutions... maybe even foods?
As a voracious consumer of #audiobooks, I often end up looking for an ebook as well – then I can scan by % read, or search via a rare word nearby, while trying to avoid spoilers. It ain't optimal

Anyone know of a cool *OCR tool [not "scraper", as I originally wrote] for grabbing specific numbers out of a screenshot like this? I have LOTS of THOUGHTS to explore 😸
There are obligations that would benefit from me spending less time on the technical side of this – but I'm also trying to jump on every interesting problem that makes me better at coding.
As a n00b who mostly codes hardware, I find Python / JS / C pretty friendly.#SolicitedAdvice https://chaos.social/@alexglow/115045346448028415

#SolicitedAdvice: What alternatives do people know for Google Drive / OneDrive / Dropbox / iCloud? Got some friends looking to move off the Goog in particular. Cloud editing would be nice.
Personally, I'm going mostly local, with Standard Notes (&/or Obsidian) for most things I need to sync/backup securely. Proton Drive seems like a decent option, too.
(Alas, Proton & S.Notes are tainted by Andy Yen's rancid POTUS opinions – but the tools themselves seem fairly immune to corruption, IMO.) -
Tl/dr: davinci, Linux, solicited advice
I have been using Linux and Windows in different computers, sp. because of davinci, the film editor, needing less (half of the) memory on Windows.
I want to give it a try again, try davinci on Linux, and will do again a Linux Partition.
So what Linux would people advice, or where I are resources for me to read on this?
(I have a tech background, but no spoons, I don't want to spend eons debugging stuff, so straightforward is better, incl installation).
Searching for this yields a lot of non related stuff, thanks Internet enshitification.
Bonus question, I have Linux mint in a small pc from 2007 with 1G mem. I never managed to get lamp properly installed (just need to update my php based website). Library incompatibility reported.
If anybody has a clue, or if I should just reinstall evtg, including a diff. version of Linux.. Let me know.
Something non political, for a breather..
Thanks in advance!
