Depuis quelques décennies, de nouvelles façons de pratiquer la traduction s'imposent dans les écritures expérimentales qui impliquent la notion de performance. Les frontières entre les formes artistiques s'en trouvent remises en cause et redéfinies, d'autant plus depuis l'utilisation de plus en plus généralisée de nouvelles technologies dans, pour et par la performance (écrans tactiles, interaction numérique, spectacles augmentés, réalité virtuelle…).
Une double transformation s'opère : non seulement les processus de traduction et la place du traducteur sont affectés, mais la création même des œuvres en est bouleversée, et les questions liées à leur archivage sont également à repenser.
