Just went back to this #canteen for #lunch to have a sizzling #bagnet this time! A bit pricy (90 pesos), but it's really yummy, I didn't expect this to have this many #gravy lol ​:munch:​

I also forgot that they offer free #sinigang #soup for every meal ​:mima_derp:​

so, when we all got on the video call, it was chaos. wonderful, beautiful chaos as everyone was preparing and #cooking their own variation of #sinigang while still remaining true to the dish's #filipino origins. and despite everyone being in different places in the process and doing different processes simultaneously, i was able to provide sufficient guidance the whole way through (while also preparing my own) and they all came out great. and, what's more, they all had fun doing it.

i wrote up a #recipe for how i make #sinigang (the likes of which most of these friends had had in my home before), which was more annotation than it was recipe since i wanted to account for scarcity of ingredients, food preferences and tastes. i even honored requests for different preparations (seafood versus pork, slowcooker versus stove top, #InstantPot variation, etc.) so that folks' #cooking efforts yielded something that they would enjoy their own way.

for 2023, i wasn't really feeling all that into doing a #birthday thing. the #pandemic still hangs over our head and so i definitely couldn't do an in-person, in-house event like in the before times. i figured i'd make myself some #FilipinoFood and maybe hang out with folks over #discord video chat. what started with that simple plan quickly turned into a cook-along video event where i walked 12 or so friends through the process of making #sinigang as they cooked along virtually.
